IIN Finally

Just when I was about to give up and go to the Post Office to pay the AOS,

and after over 30 calls to operators...I FINALLY have the IIN.

Was able to login and make both the AOS and IV payments...printed out the receipt pages.

Within my 30 calls, I talked to 3 different supervisors who insisted that they either

don't have the number or can't give it out on the phone. One even said they have NEVER given it out on the phone.

It was really frustrating. But I decided to keep calling, kept my cool, finally talked to an operator (evening)

that gave me the number without any hassle.

I have no idea what their policy is on IIN. I was starting to take it personally...but kept my cool.

You would think I was asking for the President's cellphone number.

I never thought it would be this difficult to pay the government money.

Hope this helps.

It baffles me as well since they should all answer the same way. But again, it seems like the NVC's night crew is a lot more flexible and nicer that the people working the other shift.

my Cousin got the IIN in the second try. it all depends on the whom you are talking to on the phone

My cousin got cooties on the first try. It all depends on whom you hang with on the playground.

Seriously though...congrats on your upcoming interview.

Not to give you any bad news, was your IV Bill generated before you paid it? Usually if it hasn't been and you pay it online, it can delay your case because it hasn't been generated. It's happen with a few people here on VJ. Hope this is not the case with you... Good Luck with that!!

I had heard about the risks of sending in documents before they've been generated or requested.

I confirmed that my AOS and IV fee bills were generated....paid online on Aug. 28, shows "PAID" on Aug. 29th.

Now if I can just get the DS-230 and I-864 packages ready...we'll be done soon.

Hey all,

I tried several times to get an operator to tell me the IIN but to no avail. It all worked out in the end though as I got the letter in the mail fairly quickly. Here was the timeline of events for reference:

Case entered in system: 8/14

AOS fee bill generated / mailed out: 8/25

AVR updated to reflect above: 8/29

Letter regarding instructions to pay AOS fee arrived 8/30

HA! I think I got Matt too. He's one of the good ones (at least in OUR book).

Congrats Jackie. Have a look at the link in my signature "post #293, for info on timing.
