You can send the DS-230 with the required documents when the NVC, either IVR, live rep or online, says that the DS-230 has been generated. You should never send anything ahead of time because it will cause delays in your process.

Like much of this process, the AVR is little more than a 'bad joke'.

It can NOT be relied upon.

They've generated and received our COA (DS-3032)

They've generated our IV bill

I've paid the AOS and IV bill

System still has the original message, "Your case was entered..."

If you want everything to take 4 to 6 weeks, then wait for the AVR updates.

If you want to move a little faster, talk to an operator.

If you want to fly through NVC, checkout James or Lotto's shortcuts (Links in the Wiki which is linked a the top of every page on VJ).

If you want to shoot yourself in the foot, start sending documents or payments out of sequence, before they've been generated, or incomplete.

Good luck and be careful out there.

1) when can i mail DS230 with documents ? is it ok mail 1-2 days after online IV fee bill status changed to "paid"

I received 2 identical IV bills in the mail. One generated 8-16, another 8-18.

Both of them have IIN in them, online payment instructions, and state, that if I will pay online I have to wait until it changes from "in process" to "paid", then print cover page and mail 230 with docs immediately.

I never heard that 230 has to be generated prior to be send. But IV fee has to be paid and accepted, that is the only requirement.

Also this IV fee mail has instructions to pay by mail, and in this case you would have to send fee to St.Louis with the included payment coupon, then wait for a reply in the mail, only after that you can send 230.

So, the answer is you should send 230 as soon as you can print cover page online.

Do not wait. Nobody knows when or if you will get anything in the mail from them. Phone service rep told me I will not be getting anything in the mail because we paid AOS and IV fees online.

And AVR system is a joke, still says IV fee bill was generated on ... It does not update when they get 864 or IV fee. I guess next time they update is when they process and accept all docs, so I was told here on VJ.

When we speak of the DS-230 being generated, if you pay online we mean that you have paid the IV bill, system says "paid", you printed out the barcode cover letter, and the system is ready to accept the DS-230.

If you pay the IV bill through the mail, they do actually generate a DS-230 package which includes the barcode cover letter and DS-230 instructions.

So again, it's probably not a good idea to send the DS-230 before it's been generated...but absolutely as soon as it's been generated (assuming you have all the supporting documents).

Just called NVC operator. She said "I am not sure how AVR works or how and when it updates, or what is says.." ..

Nice :bonk:

But at she was able to confirm that both fees were accepted as of last week (paid online), and both packages were received (864 and 230) and "undergoing the review process which will take up to 2-4 weeks".

And again, conflicting info. Last week operator told me if there is any RFE or any communication needed I will get it via e-mail. The lady today said no, if anything needed I will get info by mail. Which scares me, since I never got anything from them until IV bill, which they generated twice, and I got two of them within 2 days.

At least now I can confirm that online payments even before they were generated in AVR, and sending docs immediately after "paid" works fine.

So for now another wait.

Anyone has any idea when and how they send RFE if any? If 864 was received at NVC and week passed, does it mean it's accepted without any problems or rfe? Kind of worried since I had to use assets and lots of paper....

I got an RFE for my DS230 Wednesday I found out about it on the IVR. IVR says it was mailed to me...I can't be bothered to wait for them to mail it and me to receive it. So I spoke with operator to find out what it was. Then express mailed it Thursday. The IVR is "slow" this week...I think a day off. It didn't update until late in the day Wednesday and I didn't make it to the post office in time. *(#(*#$#(* But I express mailed the document and it is 1/2 way to Portsmouth as we speak...should be there by 10 am Friday morning. Hopefully I will have case complete by end of next week!

So I guess it takes a week for them to get to the docs and review and generate possible rfe..

Just got an AVR message saying they received the documents, 3 hours ago AVR did not have it yet, but the operator did.

You are hoping for case complete end of next week, is it just your optimism or is it based on experience or facts?

I hope so too, but somehow doubt. Still hope for an Oct interview date in any case.

I got RFE on my I864. Called NVC on Wednesday morning (8/27) and the AVR's message was....your documents have been reviewed and found information missing in Financial Support papers. I call the Operator and find out what is missing. I called three times just to confirm. I express mailed the I864 on the same day and it was received by NVC on 8/28. The AVR has been updated to....your checklist letter has been received on 8/28 and to wait 6-8 weeks for review. I call the NVC Operator to confirm and and ask about my ds230. I was told that the I864 and the ds230 are under the same review. So I assume one person is reviewing both. Since the AVR on Wednesday (8/27) stated that your documents have been reviewed I assume that the ds230 has been reviewed and everything must be ok with it. Per the Operator, my I864 is under review. Hopefully by end of next week I may also hear some good news....fingers crossed.........I am also hoping for an October interview.

I just got RFE in AVR.. did your RFE say specifically "found information missing in Financial Support papers.." ?

Mine does not say financial, just says "nvc has reviewed your packet of forms and found information missing or incomplete.."

Would like to know if they do have different avr rfe messages for 864 rfe and 230 rfe.

They received my 864 Aug.21 and 230 on 27th.

Anyone has any ideas if it's on 230 or 864 ?

Did your RFE AVR message say "missing or incomplete supporting documents" or just "missing or incomplete information" ?

Thanks, mine says exactly same thing.. except "send a letter on Aug. 29.."

But they only received 230 Aug.28th.. And when I spoke to the operator Aug.28 she could not even say what was it that they received, just saw some packet was received 28th.

Well, it's a mystery until Tuesday I guess. Can not think of anything that might be wrong. Maybe false rfe and waiting for 230 processing as some on VJ write, maybe some real rfe.

At least I think it's not 864, in which case avr says "missing or incomplete financial information"..
