Today, I skipped work; called in sick and started the weekend early with my buddies at Eagle Glen Golf Club in Corona, Calif. You see, I subscribe to the phrase that I often see on car stickers, "I'd rather be golfing"; and that I adhered to today by hitting the links. My play wasn't too stellar, except for a miracle at the 4th hole. In the recent past, this monster par 3 hole had eaten my lunch, what with its barranca guarding the front of the green, 2 bunkers with not enough sand in them behind the green, and the sloping mountain side to the left. And to top it off, it's 203 yards from the tips and the green slopes from back to front. Needless to say, you can spin your ball back into the barranca in front, or, if you are inside the skinny bunker behind, it's very easy to skull your ball into the barranca. But today, the hole was a honey, a much shorter one; we played from the silver tees, and the flagstick was only 133 yards yonder.

There was no wind today and it was hot and humid, about 95 degrees, and we had to summon the cart girl for cold ones every fourth hole. Well, my 9 iron, with square grooves on it, was the perfect club. I swung with full smoothness and confidence and the ball landed 7 feet above the flagstick and then spun back into the hole. Holy cow! I just made a hole-in-one!:blush: Pandemonium broke loose on the tee box with high fives galore. This was my second ace; the first was at the 9th hole at Bonita Golf Club in San Diego about 20 years ago.

Wow! What a day, a day when I didn't go to work, and 8 hours deleted from my accrued sick leave hours. Well, as anybody would imagine, I was the talk at the clubhouse but I had to flush out my Visa card for the beer and nachos and other damages at the 19th hole!

To you my fellow VJers and your significant others who cherish this royal and ancient game of chasing a little white ball, please share your most memorable moment on the golf course. We'll be very glad to hear from you if you've made holes-in-one before. If not, just relate your most unforgettable golf story.:thumbs::thumbs: Go ahead, play away and keep it on the short grass!!

VJ is full of underemployed poor liberals like me who pretend to hate golf because it's "elitist" but the truth is they can't afford golf clubs.

 - shhhhhhhhhhhh - that makes us uncool if we admit it.

When I was growing up - my nickname was Cattyshack - mostly because I was a retard spaz like Bill Murray's character. 10 years later, lo and behold, I married a rodent killing, gun totin' American just like Bill Murray.

A very good anecdote, good similes, too? Well, I could be Judge Smails, the Ted Knight character, aristocratic and stern!!

I hate golf because it's boring! If I were to take up an overpriced sport, I'd definitely prefer skiing.

Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).
