You got this info from the USCIS mis-information line, huh? Did you ask the person's name and ID number?

They're never wrong so you should be ok. :jest:

My husbands things were done on 10th July,08. I went to the uscis Q&A section and found this

'Q: When will the new vaccination requirements become effective?

The new vaccination requirements became effective on July 1, 2008. However, CDC approved a 30 day grace period until August 1, 2008. Therefore, for any medical exam conducted on or after August 1, 2008, the new vaccinations, if appropriate, must be administered in order for USCIS to approve the applicant for adjustment of status.

so i think we dont have to do anything more. The sealed envelope we have from them wd work ...Right ???

I got it from the USCIS website and from their customer service hotline. What do you mean? They don't know what they're doing?

Can you give me a non-sarcastic answer? That would be greatly appreciated and you would be a great help.

From what I understand any medicals/vaccines that were done before 08/01/08 (including overseas) are ok.

Diana

We have the same thoughts about that.

Hi...

Great link that explains this stuff pretty clearly... what's necessary in terms of vaccines and TB test requirement since the form has changed (all new requirements re: the test and vaccines went into effect 8/1/08!).

Here are the most impt parts from the link itself:

Q: If an applicant is required to receive only the vaccinations, and not undergo the entire medical exam, does he/she have to submit the entire Form I-693?

No. Applicants who are not required to have the entire medical examination need to submit only pages one, three and five of the new form. The required sections include Part 1, Information About You, the vaccination record portion of Part 2, and Part 5 (if the vaccinations are administered by a civil surgeon) or Part 6 (if the vaccinations are administered by a local health department). Pages two and four, that would have been left blank, do not need to be submitted.

Q. I had my medical exam completed before the new TB or vaccination requirements went into effect, and have not yet submitted it to USCIS, or I have submitted it but it has not yet been reviewed. Am I now required to have a new medical exam that meets the new TB and/or vaccination requirements before I can adjust status?

Generally, no. When reviewing a Form I-693, USCIS will note the date the exam was conducted and refer to the Technical Instructions, medical requirements, and form edition that were in effect at that particular time, remembering that for each revision of the Technical Instructions there was a 30-day grace period. If the civil surgeon conducted the medical exam properly and in keeping with the exam requirements and form edition in effect on that particular date, there is no need to return for a second exam or to have the results recorded on a newer edition of Form I-693, as long as you submit the Form I-693 before its one-year expiration.

The I-693 forms were revised on 06/05/08. New info. Directions to the new I-693 link below.

Here's the form itself.

Hi again! Yep, it looks like you've got it down! You had your test between 6/1 and 7/1/08, therefore you can submit either the 4/2/08 or the 6/5/08 edition of the I-693. You already have the proper TB requirements completed and you do not have to fulfill the new vaccination requirements (and this is right off the USCIS website).

No worries! This is a totally confusing process. I can understand why you're needing a sanity check. I needed a lot of them over the last few days while I filled out the forms.

You got this info from the USCIS mis-information line, huh? Did you ask the person's name and ID number?

They're never wrong so you should be ok. :jest:

I got it from the USCIS website and from their customer service hotline. What do you mean? They don't know what they're doing?

Can you give me a non-sarcastic answer? That would be greatly appreciated and you would be a great help.

The non-sarcastic answer would be that the customer service information line is staffed by a bunch of morons who often don't know what they are talking about. They consistently give horrible wrong answers and advice to people in need to help.

But if the info is in writing on the CIS website, I'd go with it, it's correct. At least you can print it out and have proof, but no way to prove what a cust service rep told you over the phone.

Not only that but information provided by USCIS employees cannot be used as a defense if it is later determined to be wrong.

YMMV

So, what do you suggest then?

We just want to make sure that once we process our AOS, we won't have RFE. Of course, I don't anyone wanys to receive RFE for any reason.
