WOODBRIDGE —In response to complaints from commuters, New Jersey Transit increased its patrols of the Woodbridge train station this week and made several arrests.

Five men were arrested on charges of disorderly conduct this week and township police also arrested a man near the train station who had an outstanding warrant. A witness had reported that she saw a man defecating on himself with his pants down to his ankles near the bathrooms on Friday, July 25.

NJ Transit spokesman Dan Stessel said that, while it is not a crime to be homeless, transit police do respond to complaints like disorderly conduct, public intoxication or trespassing.

After hearing complaints from riders, Stessel said NJ transit added plainclothes and uniformed police patrols of the platform and surrounding area. He said an investigation revealed that some of the problematic behavior may have originated at a nearby organization that was selling beer for $1.

No more cheap beer after work for me (it was $1 pints as well).

Alberta, as of August 1, has instituted a minimum price for alcohol to encourage people to "drink more responsibly" and discourage unruly behavior. They think cheap alcohol is causing social unrest on our streets.

No more cheap beer after work for me (it was $1 pints as well).

Alberta, as of August 1, has instituted a minimum price for alcohol to encourage people to "drink more responsibly" and discourage unruly behavior. They think cheap alcohol is causing social unrest on our streets.
