My fiance has just been told she won't be able to go back to work for the time being due to a car accident she had 3 weeks ago. This has obviously put her into some financial difficulty as Lara is self employed.

I have looked on the USCIS website explaining the expedite criteria. Does anyone know what the chances are of getting it expedited and how long this takes? Do they just expedite it from the USCIS or as well with the embassy?

She can getting a letter from her Doctor explaining the circumstances and a letter from her employer stating that I have a job available with them for when I arrive in the USA.

Thanks

*nod* Unfortunately I think this is correct. They will only expedite if there is a terminal illness or if it's active military being deployed.

See my timeline for my K-1 and AOS/EAD/AP details.

I'm so sorry to hear about your fiance Lara! I hope she has a speedy recovery. (F) Now on to other things...

I'm sure you won't be successful in having your case expedited, but what the heck, why not try it? The only thing they can say is no...

The second thing which no one has mentioned here, but kind of struck me, is that say you did get expedited process and made it over there to take care of her. You can't work though! Even if you did get a job with her company...you need to marry, apply for AOS, EAD etc. and so you won't be able to work until you get your EAD.

Best wishes for whatever you decide to do! Let us know how Lara is feeling.

You might have to look into finding a sponsor too.

I think slim to none is pretty accurate. You will actually end up adding to the household financial burden at this point. I doubt that will be favorable in your arguments at this time. I'm sorry. I know that wasn't the answer you wanted to hear from me.

Life's just a crazy ride on a run away train

You can't go back for what you've missed

So make it count, hold on tight find a way to make it right

You only get one trip

So make it good, make it last 'cause it all flies by so fast

You only get one trip

Can you put this in the correct forum please?

btw.. I think it's worth a shot. ;)

Yeah, it can't hurt anything to try, really but be totally truthful and accurate. Your first post is contradictory in that it indicates Lara is "self employed" but you have a job offer from "her employer".

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...
