Getting Worried

My fiance sent our K-1 application by regular mail on 21st April.. It's been nearly 4 weeks now and he hasn't heard anything from the CSC.. He checked with his bank and there has been no attempt to cash the check for the fees..

By looking at the timelines on VJ it seems that the USC receives NOA1 within about 2 weeks.. Should we be starting to worry? I can't help but stress that it got lost in the mail or fell into a black hole somewhere..

My fiance is prepared to send the whole application again, by registered overnight mail.. is this a bad idea?

Thanks..

I think you should contact them and try to find out what's going on. On our case, we always sent the package through a one night delivery and using Fedex so we can tract the package. It cost much but I think it's worth it and it's only one time anyway. Since we used overnight service, we always got the NOA not long after that (about a week).

Good luck!

Are you sure it was sent to the correct address? I can't believe CSC would let a check sit around for that length of time. Perhaps the USC should call and CSC.

I would call for sure!! They will be able to at least tell you if it has been received so that you know you don't have to send another one!

Usual rule in the US when dealing with the United States Postal Service [aka USPS] is ALWAYS send the correspondence VIA CERTIFIED WITH RETURN RECEIPT.

This ensures that the sender gets a green postcard back officially stamped with the date and signed by the person who received it.

Well, it almost will assure it; sometime tax processing centers throw them away.

However, tracking can be included and you can go online and see the progress of the mail and see online when it was received.

If all that was done, then the USC can send the tracking number and copies of the tracking receipt to the SC also again via certified with return receipt to get an inquiry.

I've not experience with calling.

thanks for the replies =)

He sent the whole package again by express overnight mail so it should be there at 8:30am tomorrow morning..

Not sure what happened to the first one though, whether it got to the service centre at all is a mystery.. but the check has been cancelled so if it does make it into their system it's not going to get very far..
