Personal debate between TV's

Well, I have decided that I'm upgrading my outdated CRT to a new LCD tv. I watch a lot of movies

and HD programming, so I want to make the jump. However, I'm torn between two models that

have caught my eye.

Costco - Samsung 32" LCD HDTV

Best Buy - LG 42" LCD HDTV

Now I know that in the past I've sworn off Best Buy, but I have to admit they have a very wide selection of TV's and prices. I think my

inability to decide comes from the nice price on the 32" at Costco and the bigger size (bigger is better eh?) on the 42" at Best Buy. Both

have similar features such as inputs and I would use external speakers. Any pointers on making the final decision?

You should consider Rear-Projection HDTVs as well. If you can live with the fact that the TV cannot be wall-mounted, you can get more bang out of you buck.

One example:

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?sk...d=1202649765525

This TV is in the same price range as the LG from BB. It is 8 inches bigger and has a higher resolution picture (1080p). That LG has a resolution of 720p. If you plan on getting into Blu-ray, then 1080p is the way to go. 720p screens are fast becoming outdated.

The built-in speakers on Samsungs are historically crappy, which is a non-issue because you stated that you will be using external-speakers. I'm not very familiar with these Samsungs, but you should do a search for reviews on Amazon.

Good luck!

just depending on your uses.. for hdtv, you only need 1080i-720p(basically the same, a 720p is cheaper, and anyway hd cable or satellite only goes to 1080i) if you wanna do ps3-xbox360-blu ray.. get one that gives u 1080p..

i'd go with the bigger size if it was for my living room and the smaller size for the bedroom. if u have a small living room go with the smaller one. if u have a big one go with the bigger one.

I HATE that we are even forced to have to think about doing this.

Life's just a crazy ride on a run away train

You can't go back for what you've missed

So make it count, hold on tight find a way to make it right

You only get one trip

So make it good, make it last 'cause it all flies by so fast

You only get one trip

Whichever TV you decide to go with, I'd go through Best Buy. Best Buy is an authorized dealer of all products that they sell. Meaning, if something were to go wrong, you will be covered under the original manufacturer's warranty. This warranty is voided if purchased from an unauthorized dealer. I have a friend who works at Costco, and he told me that they are not an authorized dealer of many products that they sell. Just something to be aware of...

Also, you can haggle with the people at Best Buy. I got them to match Amazon's price on our TV. Saved us over 200 dollars. They will just need a supervisor override to get you the matched price. If one best buy employee says no, then go to another one. Chances are, one of them will say yes. If necessary, tell them that a different Best Buy agreed to do it, but doesn't have the product in stock. ;)

1. Samsung makes a great TV

2. Costco doubles the warranty for free (should be 2 years)

I love costco

Ah, so they do offer their own warranty, just not the original mfg. warranty. That's not a bad deal then. A warranty is a warranty, after all.

for no extra charge
