I'm rather unfamiliar with the AOS process... I sent in the papers and money and received the EAD and AP so far but don't know what the next AOS step is. I thought it was having my case transferred to the local office? It's not a good thing for this to happen?

Explain please why this indicates not getting an interview...and is that good or bad?

Some get interviewed some don't... luck of the draw... It is no different other than you have to prepare to be interviewed and bring all your supporting evidence..... Some people think it is lucky not to be interviewed

Yes, you are correct. Usually, they transfer the case to your local office for interview. But sometimes, they just transfer a case to CSC (California Service Center) no matter what your local office is. If that happens, there's a good chance they will just approve the application and send you a greencard with no interview. Or, if not, CSC will then transfer the case to your local office for interview.

Is that accurate?

Looks like its better if cases were being transferred to CSC. I hope mine will be transferred soon....

Well, asked all the people who got transferred to CSC I bet all of them got their GC without interview! Count me in there!

Some got transferred to CSC but if their case needs further evaluation, there will still be possibility that CSC will return the case to the local office then the local office sets interview.

This is accurate, except to note that K1 -> AOS is more likely to go to CSC and K3 ->AOS rarely do.

result was they have sent me a notification

welcoming me as registered permanent resident.
