I remember reading on here about crossing at the POE and NOT to go in the "Trucks Only" part.

We will be driving down a 14 foot Uhaul and I don't want to go to the wrong area.

We will either be crossing at the Rainbow Bridge or the Peace Bridge.

Nick gets nervous about these types of things so I just want to clarify that we go to the regular Port of Entry area that a regular car would, right?

I crossed in maine, which of course is much smaller, but I just went through the regular lanes

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied,that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Not a dumb question at all - I thought that at first too, until I saw all of the transport trucks headed over there and realized 'Ah, THOSE kinds of trucks!'. Safe travels and happy POE!

I had a Canadian military buddy posted down to Washington State a few years back and he owned a regular GMC pick up truck. For the longest time he would only do 50 mph because they had signs stating "trucks maximum 50 mph" Of course they meant the big semi trucks,lol

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

6/22/09 EAD card arrived in the mail (that was fast eh?)
7/09/09 - received notice of GC appointment date
8/07/09 - Green Card interview at Raleigh Field office at 8:45am - Given RFE for I-693 Vaccination suppliment
9/08/09 - returned RFE to field office. Approved for Green Card
9/09/09 - Received email that Card production had been ordered.
9/17/09 - Green Card in the mail - No more USCIS until June, 2011 :D
