Wow, what a ####### you had, Lyuba!

More detail of Aicha's interview:

We arrived at 0810 for her 0820 appointment. Had to take our cellphones back to the car cause they had cameras on them (can you get a camera-less cellphone anymore?). Finally at 0935 (with our 15 month old son climbing the walls) they called her in. I tried to join her but the guy said "no spouses". The interview took about ten minutes. She said he was nice & friendly.

The officer told my husband that they are doing it on a routine basis to avoid marriage scam. It isn't anything about me or my application, it is just a new procedure. Make sure your spouse come to the interview with you!

I think this was reported a couple of times.

Some did this, but not all of them.

They can spot whatever they like to make people miserable.

In general, it is recommended to go together for couples because at least it will be helpful for moral support.

Also carry all documentations as much as you can carry.

I carried all my immigration documents for last 10 years, and security guy joked me around for it.

He told me that if he put my duffel bag on kitchen table, it will be sunken.

But I don't want to have any chance that USCIS employee find execuse to make my life difficult.

It may help for interview officer not to ask further questions for well-prepared or over-prepared person not to waste the time.

Any way, Congratulation, Lyuba

Enjoy some relaxed time for the moment.

But be prepared for last moment, which is oath ceremony.

Until you have surrended your green card, and have your certificate of naturalization in your hands,

it is not done. :innocent:

Hey all,

So I had my interview today - it was a bit of a disappointment. I went to the Federal Plaza building - arriving there about 30 minutes before my scheduled time. The waiting room was full - though the person collecting the interview appointment letters did give everyone a separate letter saying you should expect delays. 2-3 hours past your scheduled time is about average.

I was called in about 2 hours past my scheduled time. The officer walked me over to his office and swore me in. I had traveled outside the US since submitting my application so I gave him an updated set of sheets. We also went over my middle name - it's on some of my legal documents, and not on others. So we agreed that he would include it in. Then, he administered the history and language test - all pretty straightforward, straight from the list.

After that, we went over the form together. At the point where we came to "arrested, cited, detained" I had answered yes because I had a couple of traffic tickets. I had the final original court dispositions with me which he took. Then, we went over the rest of the form - me confirming the answers I had put down on the form.

Finally, we finished with the form and other paperwork. He said he didn't need me to finish up his work - he could do it after I had left.

But, when he gave me final letter, it said "A decision cannot be made at this point..." I asked if there was something wrong with the application. He said no - I had passed the test etc., he just needed to go over my file. He said I should hear back from them usually pretty soon, though they had 120 days to respond.

Hope this helps. Anyone have any suggestions? Should I be concerned?

They usually say that if they want to go over the file one more time or they have some kind fo question and they want to talk to the supervisor or think about it.

The officer gave me such a notice too because he wanted to see my husband. My husband came half-an-hour later and after talking to him for a couple of minutes he corrected the notice to "approved".

You don't really know what is going inside those people's mind. For example dring my interview the officer left to talk to another officer for a second and then this other officer got into my room, said hi to me and commented on how beautiful my coat was. Why was it necessary? Sure not for my coat.

I don't think we understand all those procedures they have but I am sure they are following their internal rules. Everything they do is for a reason.

Don't get discouraged. I am sure you will hear something soon.

I wouldn't worry much about it.

Sometimes adjudicator - interview officer - is new, so he/she wants to go over with supervisor for all misc things.

If he didn't mention much about negative things, it will be fine.

As I read your story, I wouldn't worry about it at all.

USCIS hired new adjudicator to facilitate N400 interview, so there are a lot of new USCIS employees out there.

USCIS have internal procedure, and rules, but it is done by people.

People have tendency to interprete the rules and procedures for their own convenience.

It seems that he just want to cover his AXX.

I had more than 3 traffic tickets, but my interview officer didn't care about speed tickets and/or parking tickets.

It may be just NYC things.

Usually government officers from large city have tendency about unfriendly attitude.

Hi ATL, is there any way I could trouble you for an Atlanta Field Office review? They seem to be a bit hard to come by and my wife and I are October filers, which means we hope to have an interview in February or March. That's great that you had the interview and oath the same day. Is that normal at Atlanta? By the way, I should have said, CONGRATULATIONS!!!

I went to the interview today and passed. My appointment time was 12.25 PM today and I went to USCIS at 12.00 PM. The IO called me for interview at 12.20PM and the interview was over by 12.30PM.

Looked at my green card, driver's license (for ID proof). Did not ask for my passport.

Usual questions , asked how long I was out of the country in the past 5 years (total 30 days)

If I had any children, when was I married , paid TAXES , basically you have to answer every question in the application VERBALLY under OATH.

History and civics where easy only 7 random questions.

After answering all questions, he took my signatures and gave me N-652 (Naturalization Interview Results) form and he checked "You passed the tests of English and U.S history and government". He also checked "A) Congratulations! your application has been recommended for approval". He the told me he'll put me in for the 2pm oath ceremony. (Atlanta usually has Oath the same day but it may not be the case for everybody. I think it depends to the day, time you interview.

Hope this helps
