I just took the photo using my digital camera (5.1 Mega Pixels) with a white wall background. I printed the photo out in CVS so the photo quality is no problem. I will then cut the photo into 2 x 2.

The only thing is the print I got from CVS is not on a glossy paper, it was on luster paper. There is no mention of what type of paper to use in the photo spec from the website. So I guess luster paper is fine, as long as the photo quality is high, correct?

That is not the website of the USCIS -- refers only to visa and passport photos, not immigration documents. Better to be on the safe side...get them professionally made even at a CVS.

If you search the USCIS web site for passport photo information it links you to the U.S. Dept. of State website, so the website mentioned is valid. See attached link.

And while we're still on this subject...

If anybody has Photoshop, here's a few links on how to do your own passport photos. One is a tutorial and one is a template a guy created for use with Photoshop.

We just took the Wifes and two kids photos at the local post office this very morning in prep for sending the AOS packet and we might as well have taken them ourselves with the sloppy work the attendant did.

She snapped two of the three before they were ready and so the expressions are bad, the lighting is also over exposed.

15 dollars per subject at your USPS.

At least they are closeby, I can´t think of anything else positive.

ALSO....the pics come uncut on the paper so hopefully USCIS does the trimming, does anybody know??

No idea about how picky they are with AOS photos. If you've already sent it, there's really nothing that you can do. If you get an RFE, simply have them done again. ;)

Yeah, in the UK, Snappy Snaps is the only place we found that did American specification passport photos. My fiance had to drive an hour to Birmingham to have his done. I'm sure it's worth not having to worry about whether yours are good enough or not!

I guess if you're an expert photographer with proper lighting and camera, you can do your own :P

I did mine myself. Took awhile to get them the correct size. Just kept shooting until I got it. I don't have any Idea what they do with the pics. GC pic is from the biometric computer photo.
