I think the 'soul train' comment was wayyy more offensive than the 'whitey did it to me' comment. In fact, I think the latter is pretty fitting to many a scenario these days.

And I find it offensive for people to use the race card all the time to garner pity and sympathy and if that means Whitey did it to me syndrome then yes it is the race card trying to be played to gain an edge.
