OP should google that phrase for her friend so the friend can be well-prepared for this event.

I found this link after some Googling, which may actually prove useful to just about anyone heading into an AOS interview.

Hi guys!

I thought I'd let you know that my friend had her interview today. Apparently this is some random thing they do to people who are in all different stages of adjusting status, even those who have greencards.

They interviewed my friend and her husband separately, and asked all these bizarre questions like "does your freezer have an ice cube maker" and "do you have a push button or twisty knob on your bathroom door"?!

It all worked out fine I am pleased to say. So for those of you who may run into this, it doesn't seem to be anything to worry about. :)

I'm sorry to be argumentative (since I have no personal knowledge) but I do not think the above is true. A Stokes interview (that is what she had) is quite serious and they do not do these types of interviews to people who have already been granted Permanent Resident status (green card).

OK, I'll qualify that by saying that I have never heard a whiff of it, and I think I would've over the past 4 years.

I'm glad to hear it worked out fine for your friend!

I have heard that they reinterview a certain (very low) percentage of applicants at random to make sure that things are being done properly and cheaters aren't slipping through the net... I'm glad your friend's interview wasn't too torturous.

STAGE 1 - Applying for K1 (15 September 2003) to K1 Approval (13 July 2004) - 9 months, 29 days (303 days)

STAGE 2A - Arriving in US (4 Nov 2004) to AOS Application (16 April 2005) - 5 months, 13 days (164 days)

STAGE 2B - Applying for AOS to GC Approval - 9 months, 4 days (279 days)

STAGE 3 - Lifting Conditions. Filing (19 Dec 2007) to Approval (December 11 2008)

STAGE 4 - CITIZENSHIP (filing under 5-year rule - residency start date on green card Jan 11th, 2006)

*N400 filed December 15, 2011

*Interview March 12, 2012

*Oath Ceremony March 23, 2012.

I-130 for both parents

March 28th 2013 - Priority date/ NOA 1
November 14th 2013 - Transferred to Nebraska Service Center

January 7th 2014 - Case changed online to approved for both

January 8th 2014 - case changed to shipped to NVC

January 9th 2014 - case changed to NOA 2 mailed

January 10th 2014 - Received the hardcopy of the NOA 2 stating that NVC would issue a case number in 30 days approx.

January 21st 2014 - Case Received at NVC

February 26th 2014 - Case numbers and IIN number received - Wrong embassy code assigned...now waiting for new case numbers.

March 3rd 2014 - Filled in DS-261 for both parents

March 5th 2014- AOS available, paid and submitted AOS packet.

March 6th 2014 - USPS shows packet was delivered at NVC

March 10th 2014 - AOS shows as paid in the CEAC portal/AOS logged into system as being received by NVC.

March 11th 2014 - New case number assigned for my Dad.

March 20th 2014 - Paid IV fee for my Mum.

March 25th 2014 - AOS accepted by NVC with no checklist.

March 26th 2014 - Filled in and submitted DS-260 for my Mum

March 31st 2014 - AOS found in my Mum's file for my Dad - accepted and placed into his file/IV fee available for my Dad and Paid.

April 1st - Mailed all civil documents to NVC for both parents.

April 3rd: IV fee shows as paid in portal/submitted DS-260 for my Dad.

April 22nd: checklist issued for civil documents - NVC error ...

April 23rd: sent another certified copy of my marriage certificate

April 24th: Case complete! :)

April 30th 2014 - Medical scheduled for parents at Knightsbridge in London

June 11th: Interview at London Embassy - Approved :)

Well actually she does have her Green Card, she got it in February, so they do it to people who have Permanent Resident Status. Before they went into the interview the guy told her that it was random so I guess it must be true.

Well actually she does have her Green Card, she got it in February, so they do it to people who have Permanent Resident Status. Before they went into the interview the guy told her that it was random so I guess it must be true.

They say you learn something new every day, and I've been illuminated. I'm pretty surprised (as you can see by my earlier comments :yes: ) but am glad to know that we're never safe <g>.

PS: just thought of something.. was she granted her PR status without interview via California SC? I did read recently of a guy in similar circs actually.. has his GC & was called for interview. He never came back with the rest of the story, so we were left hanging. Now I'm just curious! :)

Nope, she did go through the whole interview process, I think it must have been Vermont SC since she lives in CT, so it wasn't that....the only thing I can think of is that she didn't come in on K1 or K3, she came here 6 or 7 years ago to work and then got married and adjusted status. Apparently all was fine though so all's well that ends well...
