so, amidst all the uncertainty regarding K3 processing and VSC, I decided to get on the phone with an officer after much hesitation. i was greeted by an equally hesitant, but helpful and courteous officer who looked into my case (didn't generate any touches). While i have no hope of getting anything for the next 3-4 months, she did express her frustration towards the K3 process by saying "I don't know why they got this new form in the first place, I guess they want your $$$". when asked about the processing times and why is there such a backlog for USCs to call their spouses, she explained that they have tied up with other types of applications and that backlog is due to clear, but they a lot of I-130 and I-129Fs waiting to be processed. Looking at my particular case, she said "oh my god! yours just came in." I was going nuts on the other side of the phone since I sent my application in March and got my NOA2 in the second week of March. If March = now, not sure what to expect. I explained that I am not looking to jump over the line in front of others that are waiting and that I am simply curious and want to set my expectations accordingly. 10 minutes on hold and about 20 minutes of conversation in which she had a hard time getting the computer system to pull up information.

Not productive, but i am left with hope that they will soon start to bang out the I-130s as H1s die off and K1s are de-prioritized.

I am not sure if this information is helpful at all to anyone.

To what "new form" was she referring?

I was told the exact same thing about a month ago by a VSC officer - how they are being assigned to work on other petitions/applications, and that's why the I-130 and I-129F petitions processing is so slow. However, I don't hear Angelina and Brad complaining about waiting too long to bring their adopted kids.... . The wait is for the masses.

This sucks more than anything else has ever sucked before.

An October 2007 I-130, I-129F filer.

Should've played the Green Card Lottery instead - it's less random and more reliable.

I'm sure there are many people waiting for a lot longer than us, March filers. But 2 - 3 months is not RECENT when it comes to reuniting families!! What the heck is going through the officer's mind when he/she does not realize how hard it is to be apart from family for 2 or 3 months just because of political reasons (visas an so on). Well, it is not their problem...

By the way, CSC is processing k3s in only 1 month. VSC should do the same!!!

At least I've noticed several approvals lately at VSC. Maybe they will come to us earlier than expected. I sure hope so!

LOL! I agree with you! There were some people discussing about it in another thread. If we were rich and famous, we wouldn't be here in VJ cursing the USCIS officers!!!

Sometimes you get a helpful, intellgient officer, and sometimes a real jerk. Keep trying till you speak to a decent person. Your right, its shameful the way this process is.

Even here on VJ many grow impatient with those asking, "How long will it take?" questions mostly because there's no way to actually know the answer to such questions. It's even worse than, "Are we there yet, Daddy?"

Well thought out specific questions that actually have answers are far more welcome, no matter who is getting asked.

I think I say politely you are wrong pushbrk...I did not mention whole conversation part but a portion..Here are some examples the way you make conversation ....Hopefully it will help you..to understand the situation or frustration.

1.child asks daddy " are we there yet? then daddy tells child patiently and politely that " we will be there in next 10 min or ...30 min etc" But he will never say "I donot know.....etc" ...b/c there is an end point or solution for everything that makes reasonable time and prediction.

2. You go to airport and find out that flight is getting delayed ...then you ask " How long is the delay? do you have any idea?" then that guy will tell you " about 1-2 hrs ..etc" But not I donot know.....etc...

what i meant by all this ...If some one is working in particular field he or she should have some prediction or asessment of current situation which in turn gives lot of hope for others even though things may not happen during that time for unforseen reasons. They should not be giving vague answers or excuses forever..letting ppl go through typical ISD..

So after she makes such a comment, how credible is she from 1 to 10? 0.5??

I think that there are not that many CR1/K3 left... I think we are stuck between Dec. and Jan, with a few cases from Oct. and Nov. still pending. The thing is, the pace is so slow that I do not count on any approval for March~ers before Aug...

129F for K3 and yes, it ain't new.

Your examples prove the point that when "information" is available information can be given.

Working in the field of immigration doesn't mean information is available. Nobody except the person immediately ready to approve a specific immigration petition is ever going to know when that petition will be approved. There are too many variables. As such they are instructed to give truthful answers like, "I don't know." or to quote a standard.

"When will we get there, Daddy?" is a different question than, "Are we there yet?" One is a legitimate question with an answer. The other is just an annoyance because the answer is already known.

Instead of being impatient and talk the whole system off why not concentrate on working on the relationship. This waiting has its negatives but a few positives are also there.

When we filed for our K1. We got stuck in the june-july 2007 rush and it took a lot more time to get a visa. It took 6 months to get the visa with an expedite as Daniel is deploying now. I could have cried and made the whole process a lot more difficult for both of us or concentrated on the good things to come. I chose to do the latter. Trust me it helped..

Don't lose your heart and patience. Its only going to happen when it does (F)
