We did too. Just got the email yesterday saying that we'd gotten the card. I don't know what the common denominator is, tho, that gets you the card with no interview. Hubby is from Ireland, we are in Seattle, I haven't seen anybody else with our specifics get the green card without interview. must be the luck of the draw! anyhoo, we'll take it!!!

28th Feb 2006 - Received the AP in the mail

3 Mar 2006 - Biometrics appointment

9 Mar 2006 - EAD approved

2009: Conditional GC Expired and Husband has been having affairs since 2008 in China. Can't file for ROC since he got laid off. He came to Jakarta to live with me and my parents. He got a new job. Life resume to normal or so I thought.
March 2010: Officially separated after yet more affairs exposed just a day after my birthday!

February 2011: Officially divorced.
June 18, 2011: He married the girl he had the last affair with.

August 2014: I am engaged with my real soulmate. Not an American.

I think it happens to those who entered on K-1, after the case gets transferred to CSC. Not the majority, but definitely does happen.

09-02-2005 Applications for AOS, EAD, and AP received by MSC

10-21-2005 AOS fingerprint notice for 12-08-2005

11-07-2005 AP approved

12-05-2005 Infopass appt at San Jose office for interim EAD -- Refused, because it is already approved by MSC on 11-07-2005

12-07-2005 Attempt at interim EAD at San Francisco office -- no go. Back to San Jose, where CSO (chief station officer) tells they will contact MSC via email to request permission to issue interim EAD

12-08-2005 Biometrics for AOS and EAD. Having no EAD appt letter was no problem (used EAD NOA)

12-15-2005 EAD arrived in the mail

12-24-2005 Received interview letter; interview scheduled 03-01-2006

01-28-2006 Received replacement SSN card in married name (5 wks since application)

03-01-2006 AOS interview -- approved; received stamp in the passport

03-13-2006 Green card arrived in the mail

There does not seem to be any clearcut answer as to why some do not have an interview. The one thing these cases do have in common is they are all transferred to the California SC sometime after Biometrics have been done.

Having looked through the California Transfers thread in here, it seems the same local offices again and again have their specific AOS cases transferred to Cali. Go down the list and you will see the same local offices repeatedly, so I guess if your office is there, then you stand a good chance.

So I personally have come to the conclusion that the decision is due to the local office not the details of each case. I just think some local offices are happy to hand this job over to California and many others prefer to go the traditional route.

For instance OKC is my local office and they have no history at all of letting their cases go to California, I am therefore hopeful I might be the first, but also not optimistic and preparing for an interview.

I think it happens to those who entered on K-1, after the case gets transferred to CSC. Not the majority, but definitely does happen.

I don't agree with this opinion, although I really wish it was the case, as we'd be laughing!

Congratulations. Yes it happens to many people now... and it's very heartening to have something to do with immigration go smoothly and painlessly - I got my GC from CSC in January :)

STAGE 2A - Arriving in US (4 Nov 2004) to AOS Application (16 April 2005) - 5 months, 13 days (164 days)

STAGE 2B - Applying for AOS to GC Approval - 9 months, 4 days (279 days)

STAGE 3 - Lifting Conditions. Filing (19 Dec 2007) to Approval (December 11 2008)

STAGE 4 - CITIZENSHIP (filing under 5-year rule - residency start date on green card Jan 11th, 2006)

*N400 filed December 15, 2011

*Interview March 12, 2012

*Oath Ceremony March 23, 2012.
