To Marc's point above about piles of shite smelling like roses (while he's fixated on Barack of course) it probably should be pointed out that this is exactly what people do in every election, get elbow deep in a big bowl of pig slurry trying to find little nuggets of gold-dust in the mess.

Case in point - what is McCain to a lot of conservatives but a lesser evil whose stance on many key conservative issues is less than ideal?

I think there has to be some self-delusion going on for people to throw their support (vehemently) with candidates who barely represent their interests. Given the general mediocrity in popular politics its actually amazing to me that so many people are passionate about it.

Since I came here and started to follow the elections ALL three candidates said some stupid things. The worse of all was when Mccain and Hillary proposed the gas tax holiday or something like that. I studied economy, they don't have a clue what they're talking about. It would be the biggest mistake ever to do that.
