I used to have dreadlocks and so people assumed that I loved reggae music and smoked weed. I LIKE reggae and do NOT smoke anything.

If you ask me, Bob Marley has been by far the most famous Jamaican here in the US. He was known to smoke a mega-fatty here and there. You may have this one man to blame for the stereotype.

Me and most of my friends are big fans of his music :yes:

What you are dealing with is lack of education, and in this country there is plenty of it. Marijuana is associated with the criminal, urban, non-white element, which is sadly a stereotype. The anti-marijuana camps don’t want to be perceived as soft on crime/drugs, since this will cost those votes. At this time, United States has more of its population in prison than the entire world. The numbers are staggering, but prison and police states are good business. I smoked, did during chemotherapy, and when I get really sick, a lot of us patients know from first-hand experience that marijuana is the only effective treatment for us. It is not anywhere as powerful as the morphine they love to give you, and is highly addictive. As long as people stay in the stone ages of the Regan era, they will always associate marijuana with the young black male in dregs. In reality it is a lot of normal, professional, and successful human beings that par take in marijuana, some are very ill, so where do you stand now on this issue. Should you take away something that works, let’s you continue the chemo. Without it you are extremely ill, so smoking marijuana doesn’t make you a thud, or criminal. If it wasn't for marijuana, I would have stopped chemo, I hate throwing up I always have, almost phobic on the topic, so without this drug, I would have said, no way. It in a way saved my life.

Yes. Because you are Jamaican. Just say no and move on. No need to be offended.

Don't give it too much thought man. It's called an stereotype, I'm mexican, and I'm pretty sure people when they see me in some states of the US might think I don't speak english, I'm an undocumented alien and I work in a farm, besides thinking that maybe I lost my sombrero since I don't wear one. Reality check! I speak 3 languages fluently, I have 2 college degrees from an American university, I have a high-paying job and I'm NOT an undocumented alien.

I would just advise those people to travel more and meet more people from other countries. Don't blame them stereotypes will always exist, I just laugh when somebody makes stupid comments like that... ;) ]

Cheers mate!

P.S. Did u shot the sheriff? haha :)

Depends on who's doing the associating. I associate it with pretty much every race and group that there is. I have friends of most of the groups that smoke a bowl now and then. Mostly though, the people who toke that I know of are middle class, older, white guys (and gals).

Lady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. ####### coated bastards with ####### filling. But I don't find them half as annoying as I find naive bobble-headed optimists who walk around vomiting sunshine.
