X-ray and airport scanner

My K1 visa was approved finally last week (yay) and I fly out in a few weeks...my question is: one person at the embassy told me to put the chest x-ray in my checked luggage and another said to put it in my carry on....does anyone know which it is? And will taking it through an airport scanner damage it at all?

Also a really stupid question probably but is any US airport an approved point of entry? I'm flying Gatwick - Detroit and then connecting to my final US destination.

Put it where you want... you won't need it at the POE... Airport scanners will not effect it

Any U.S. Airport that receives international flights is a POE.

I was wondering this too. I put it in my hand luggage but nobody require it. fwaguy is right.

Unless thing have changed recently you should have the x-ray in your carry on luggage because you are suppose to hand it in at immigration. The fact that they may not look at it or want it is irrelavent.

All you need is a cardboard tube -- roll (don't crease) the x-ray and put it in. That way it's protected and easier to carry and on hand if by some weird chance you are asked for it. And no, it won't be affected by the x-ray machine as it's already been exposed and processed.

I just put mine in the flap of my checked in suitcase and it wasn't required at all.
