Hy fiancée will be attending an interview in June. We have decided not to have any wedding hall arrangements before she comes to the US. My question is how important is it for the interview to have a proof of wedding hall being booked?

Or can she just state that choose of the wedding hall is important for her (since she is bride and it is once in a life time blah blah blah) and she wants to be present during hall selection....

Based on the experience of those who went thru the interview process already... what should be our best course of action?

Thanks in advance for response.

I was not asked for any proof of a booked wedding at my interview. They did, however, ask me the intended date of our wedding.

Lots of couples haven't started any wedding plans by the time their SO arrives in the U.S. They want to do the wedding planning together.

Don't stress about that part of it. Just present as much evidence of a bona fide relationship as you can.

The vast majority do not have concrete wedding plans before K-1 is issued for the main reason that something may come up while K-1 is being issued.

That being said, showing evidence like that just goes to show a relationship.

I have read many posts where wedding plans were derailed because of visa issuance timing.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

That's one way to look at it, so maybe some Consular officers would think the same.

However, I think it means nothing at all in any positive way and that attempting to use such evidence to show bona fides could easily backfire.

It's important to understand that the concern is about the bona fides of the relationship itself, not weddings or wedding plans. Scam marriages have those too. Good evidence of bona fides will be more along the line of visits, and regular communication, than engagement ring receipts and wedding plans.

When you adjust status, the marriage certificate is what's important, not the wedding pictures. It's the joint bank account, joint lease, beneficiary changes and joint utility bills, not the diamond or the receipts for a big wedding.

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...
Understanding the big picture is priceless. Anonymous
