Ok some of you know about this because I posted the other day.....................Gavin called about this whole "fingerprint" thing. They told him to come in June 12th-they will take his fingerprints, and then it may take another 2-3 months for an interview. ####### is going on? We have jumped through every hoop-and now this? first of all-they told him it was a technical error on their part, that is why he has to go get fingerprinted-ok well then why does he have to wait 5 weeks to get it done? he said the woman treated him like sh*t!

I seriously feel like giving up somtimes(although I won't) :(

No matter what we do-we get screwed. How can they do this right before the interview? I am finding it so hard to hold on-I thought I would be seeing him soon, his interview should have been this month. I may not be able to go in a few months because the flights are so expensive.

Sorry but I had to get this off my chest

They probably won't interview him until the fingerprints clear the FBI; I believe that's what happened with Monique's husband. I mean, it may not be 2-3 months, but it may very well be.

*hugs* Come on now, chin up...you'll still probably see a visa by the end of the summer, at the outside.

I don't know how to keep my chin up anymore. I just don't understand how they could make such a huge mistake & expect him to wait another month to get fingerprinted-then wait another few months for an interview that we have been expecting to be any day now.

I am seriously devastaed. We filed back in Dec-I know people wait for much longer, but not in Dublin. How can they make a mistake & then have him wait 5 weeks to even get the fu*king fingerprints? I have had it-I really have.

awwwwwwwwww Irish *hugs* I am sorry you are having to deal with this new hiccup.

Am curious, did they tell Gavin what the technical error was that is meaning he now has to have fingerprints taken?

Tracy

As security name checks are done at all levels including consular, if there is a name hit they can request fingerprints to be sent to FBI.

Does Dublin do it differently than London? I didn't realize you had to wait for fingerprints to clear at this point. Didn't they do that at NVC (if not before)?

They fingerprinted him when he was denied entry last year-so they should have them on file. They told him that there was some sort of "technical error" so he needs to give them again. I just don't know what the problem is. All I know is-I can't go to the interview now, and I won't be seeing him for God knows how long. I am so upset :(

Oh, okay. And thanks too to Wench for the additional info. ;) What a cluster f***.

And yeah, it *should* make you feel better that Ireland and England are usually 'quick' in comparison to other consulates (as jordanianprincess shows us). But I know that doesn't help you feel better now. (F)

They just said it was a technical error on their part-he told them that he was fingerprinted here, when he was denied entry-they said "oh we know-it's in the computer". I don't know if they lost them or what-but why would they have to be sent to the FBI now? right before the interview? it doesn't make sense. I am so sick of this-me saying it isn't fair doesn't even begin to cover it. I am so tired-I can't deal with being apart, the phone bills, everything. I was really happy that his interview was coming soon & now this :(

I know. :(

Again, I could be wrong here, but I believe that Gavin is in the very same situation as Monique's husband. He did have to provide fingerprints again after being denied entry. He had to give them in London before an interview date was assigned, which I think only took about a month or so after he was fingerprinted.

Might want to PM gimygirl and ask her.

By the way I discovered some very interesting information this week. I am filing a K-1. My fiance lives in Jordan and that was the embassy I listed on my I129 form. However you don't have to select the embassy where the benefiary resides. You can select any embassy you like as long as the embassy accepts the case and the beneficiary is willing to travel.

I am currently looking into the possiblilty of having my case transfered to Greece as they accept applicants from other countries. I spoke to the NVC about this and they told it was a common practice and does not make a difference in the outcome of the case. They said if I want to transfer my case to another embassy. I have to get in touch with that embassy first and see if they are willing to accept. If they accept the embassy will contact the embassy where your case currently resides and get it transfered.

It's worth looking into for those who get ridiculous dates. I am currently in the process of talking to Greece and will keep everyone posted on the outcome.

Its ok to whine :star: thats why we are here, to listen! (F)

Just an FYI, I don't think you're going to have much luck with that, unless your sweetie is legally resident in Greece. It is common practice for foreign nationals to interview outside their country of citizenship (for example, citizen of country A interviews has a work visa in country B, and so he interviews in country B instead), but only if he or she is legally resident outside of their country of citizenship. "Consulate shopping," from what I have read, is discouraged.

You know... Olya and I finally figured this out. To us we have come to believe that this whole process is a very good thing for our relationship.

If you can wait months up months to be with the one you love...

If you can do all someone asks to be told, "oh, now you must do this and this to be together" and still continue...

If you can work together through all of these triffles...

If you can continue to communicate and give each other a boost when needed...

If you can both look at whatever comes and say together "we can do this"

THEN

THEN

You can be assured that your relationship has grown in so many ways that when you are together for the rest of your lives.. you will remain together!

Keep you head up and together you will persevere!

Actually the embassy in Greece does not require you to be a resident. Its stated on their website and I have confirmed that with them. Its up to each individual embassy on a case by case basis if they want to accept the case.
