Chicken Pox Vaccine

My husband had the chicken pox when he was 12. We were getting ready to file our AOS and the medical office told us he needed a chicken pox vaccine. Well we called around and the chicken pox vaccine is $85.00 PER shot and it's 2 shots plus $30.00 PER office visit. It's ridiculous!!! What I am wondering is should we get the blood test instead?? They asked him if he had chicken pox at his medical interview abroad. We only have until April 29th to file for AOS and this is just an unforseen roadblock.

Why wouldn't you do the titre test? Since he has already had Chicken Pox he may as well.

Were your husband's vaccinations completed as part of the medical and the medical less than a year old? Take a look at the vaccination FAQ's.

When we went to the medical office, it was enough for us to simply tell the doctor that my wife already had the chicken pox --- they accepted this explanation in lieu of the vaccination, and put the information on the vaccination supplement.

Or if he decided to get the vaccine, he can get it free in communitary hospitals.

Just for anyone who may read this in the future. YOU DO NOT have to get another medical exam by a civil suregon when you are asking for your vaccination supplement. They are trying to rip you off for money. If you have had your vaccinations just contact

You can send them the proper paperwork and they will do a vaccination supplement for $20.00.

I cannot stress enough how a civl surgeon will try to make you pay for a whole new medical exam. YOU DON'T NEED IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
