Hi Audrey,

Get Phil to ring 09042-450-100 and ask for an email code. They will give him some numbers/letters to put in the subject line of an email and that email will definitely be replied to. I'm afraid the call will cost £1.20 a minute.

hey gang,

i didn't even read the links, but yes, you just need to contact the service (SMS, right?) - the messenger people - prepay for them to come pick up your stuff and take it to the Embassy and then to bring it back to you. You keep your passport, send everything else back with an apologetic cover letter saying, oh dear, so sorry, look what happened, thanks for the speedy re-seal, good-bye.

don't worry about contacting them first, they'll just tell you to do that. it doesn't take long at all to get it back in tip-top shape. check my timeline for the turnaround - i think it was like 2 or 3 days.

Day One: Went to Council of Elrond. Was prettiest person there. Agreed to follow some tiny little man to Mordor to throw ring into volcano. Very important mission - gold ring so tacky.

Day Six: Far too dark in Mines of Moria to brush hair properly. Am very afraid I am developing a tangle.

Orcs so silly.

Still the prettiest.

Day 35: Boromir dead. Very messy death, most unnecessary. Did get kissed by Aragorn as he expired. Does a guy have to get shot full of arrows around here to get any action? Boromir definitely not prettier than me. Cannot understand it. Am feeling a pout coming on.

Frodo off to Mordor with Sam. Tiny little men caring about each other, rather cute really.

Am quite sure Gimli fancies me. So unfair. He is waist height, so can see advantages there, but chunky braids and big helmet most off-putting. Foresee dark times ahead, very dark times.

All is well and the wife is still alive. Luckily. She felt so bad and to rectify it, she called the courier for a pickup on Saturday. They said they couldn't pick up that day at her postal code so she drove into London and checked into a hotel that she knew and met the courier there. The package is due to be back today - Phil is staying put to receive the envelope. No word yet but the wife called and it is still on for delivery today. Whew

And I just received this email from the Embassy:

Thank you for your e-mail correspondence. The IV unit will turn around the re-sealing within two days, SMS is then usually able to deliver within 48 hours.

So, if anyone else has this problem, no need to panic. They do not take the passport back either - you can keep that.

Phil has arrived yesterday from Bangkok and is packing to get ready for his flight home this Friday. I cannot believe that it is finally happening. Thanks everyone for your suggestions and support on this. We appreciate it soooooo much.
