Hi,

I'm sure this questions has been asked tons of times, but I couldn't find it anywhere

I would like to go see my fiance in the US again. I was thinking about the end of May. Our estimated timeline to get the approval for the I129F is the 4th of May as of today.

Will I have trouble to enter the States? I read it helps to take like a letter from the employer or something that shows that you intend to leave again.

We would just really like to see each other again ( as you all understand :) ) and cut up the waiting a little....

You will find MANY threads relating to this.

It's important to bring as much information tying you to Germany as possible. Letter from employer, rental contract or mortgage papers...bills, bank accounts..etc. It is your burden to prove to the POE officer that you do not intend to immigrate. He/she still has the right to deny entry. ALWAYS tell the truth but do not offer more than what is asked. ;)

As a side note, I see that you filed very early February. I know your adjutication date says early May as an approximate but judging by others timelines at VSC that is likely to be earlier. Even if you are approved early May, Germany is a pretty fast consulate, so you're probably looking at an interview date in June with a relatively short wait (days) for the visa after that. I'm not sure if you were planning on taking your time to move over and if that's the case, pardon my intrustion, but I just wanted to bring that to your attention so you're not in the US when your interview is scheduled! ;)

She is right. The German Embassy can schedule an interview within 5-6 weeks of you receiving your NOA2. Of course this is dependent on you sending packet 3 back, etc.

As everyone said, traveling is possible as long as you show ties. When Marco came through, he was very lucky that no one interrogated him. He had an employment letter, an apartment lease, and proof of recent payment of insurance.

At the POE they said, "why are you here" and he said, just visiting, and they said "Welcome to America". Mind you that he was entering for another 85 days on February 22nd, after he just left an 80 day visit at the beginning of January.

It's not always that easy though, just better to be safe than sorry. Good luck!

Not to venture off topic, but I wonder what constitutes a "wrong" answer in a POE officer's mind? I can think of very obvious answers such as why are you visiting...oh I'm bring my crop of weed to come sell to high school kids on the street. That would merit an arrest depending on your current country lol. Anyways, the reason I feel helpless sometimes is that if that POE officer is having a bad day, he just might end up picking you out of the 100+ people he/she processes that day and deny you entry. A lot of "power" in one person's hands.

I just went over on Easter weekend at the Peace Bridge.

No problems at all.

I was honest, said I was visiting my fiance, he asked when we were getting married. I told him we were doing the K1, he asked where we were in the process. He joked with my Dad about getting me out of the house...lol

He asked when was the last time I had been down and that was it, he let me go through, it was totally painless.

I did bring proof that I was returning home though,

Bank statements, letter from my employer stating I was going back to work on such and such date, pay stubs showing I'm employed there, credit card statements, etc. etc. I didn't have to use any of it.

Better to be safe than sorry though!

Good Luck!

Let's Keep the Song Going!!!

I am off to New York to see my fiancee tomorrow. I think I have enough evidence - return ticket, letter from employer, letter from parents (whom I am living with), bank statement (not so sure how this will be useful but who knows!) and a print out of the visa status thingy. I am hopeful that will be OK, but I also know I will be incredibly nervous waiting in line for immigration!! Any last minute tips also appreciated...

neither was boston 4 weeks ago. they asked the purpose of the trip, i answered 'vacation'.

and i always hoped that it's not just 'one guy with in a bad mood' who can deny an entrance. i' always assumed if they're really gonna deny somebody they'd run it through their superior... no??

We are way to fearful of these officers!! I had an issue with immigration while on an F-1 Visa and had no problem insisting to speak to his supervisor...and i turned out to be right! I get that they have an important job but like someone else said, it definately can be a matter of too much power in one hand

Thank you for all the replies. I'm still hoping we will get the NOA2 soon. We decided last night, that my fiance will come see me in Germany. That way we won't have the problem with immigrations or the interview. Who knows, maybe we get lucky and he'll be here when I have the interview appointment. That would be so great.

Thanks again for all the help. This forum is great!
