Just my thought and one of the reasons I don't participate in the threads about this mess....

Not one dayum thing we say or do will change any of it.....We can piss and moan, we can be happy or sad about it....but the bottom line is...No amount of talking about it is gonna change it...

You're absolutely right Nekkid...ahahhahahaha. But, the thing is, we all gripe and moan about things we can't change every day at some point or another..no harm in that EITHER..ya know? Kinda helps just to get it all out sometimes! :) and last thing I'm gonna say..is Smitty and Meliss...terri wasn't sayin' anything that MOST of us on here have said at one time or another..it sucks being apart. I'm sure she's fully aware that she has to wait and doesn't have a choice..but what's the biggie about venting on it or wanting a bit of support? No prob to me! (F) M.

buck... I agree with you... you are so right... we can piss and moan about it... and NOTHING WILL GET CHANGED... the ONLY way that any relief will be found is to use our civil rights and VOTE... to put into play a system that will work... with that said, this is what I believe:

I believe in the Declaration of Independence... I believe that "all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. — That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, — That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness."

What I DON'T believe in is that for someone of ANY ethnicity to come into this country ILLEGALLY. Laws are in place for a reason. If the laws do not work, we should petition, vote and actively try to change those laws.

Does that mean that I don't want anyone coming to the USA? no... it does not! It only means that I think it should be done through a certain legal process... such as we are doing here with our loved ones.

I don't have the perfect solution... but, I do believe that one can be reached.

I don't necessarily agree with everything that was said there... because I happen to strive very hard to obey the laws of the land... not just civicly... but morally...

What I DO agree with is this - and I quote: Change doesn't happen unless people are willing to challenge the laws as they exist.

A change will NOT happen overnight... but, a change CAN happen... laws need to be rectified... thrown out if they are obsolete... and new laws made.

The way to bring about these changes... are to study the current laws, research options, watch and listen to the news and the current local and national events, along with world events... and then use our Representatives to speak for us to ratify these laws.

Ok... off of my soap box... lol

I live in San Diego--a city with many, many, undocumented Mexicans--and I had a rather nice day today. Half my students were absent, so teaching was so easy! Correcting papers was a breeze because there were so few.

When I passed the free clinic on my way home, I noticed only 2 cars in the lot, instead of the 20 that usually try to fit into that tiny lot. I also went to the grocery store near the school where I teach--it is fairly new and really big. I don't usually shop there because I always seem to get behind some woman with 5 kids, WIC coupons and food stamps. It takes them forever to check out because every voucher must be rung up on its own. Today the store was not crowded (but not deserted either) and not a single customer in front of me used WIC vouchers or food stamps!

It made me realize how much $$ California is spending on the education, feeding, and health of Mexican children--not Americans of Mexican heritage, but Mexican children who do not have "papers".

Yet all of us have to pay, wait, and pay some more to get our loved one to this country--legally. Yet some (not all) Mexican people think because they work in this country they should be given "papers"--free and without waiting! Maybe they should move to Vermont, where the paperwork seems to move faster! Or better yet, people who don't like American laws, can choose to live somewhere else.

I just read the newspaper and I am annoyed that the newspaper seemed to imply the boycott was a success because a Rubio's taco shop closed down for the day. I do not believe it had much of an effect at all. Most of the workers asked for the day off(according to 2 different newpapers I read)--which is so different from actually boycotting your job.

These are just my opinions and thoughts. You are free to agree or disagree. I just needed to vent a bit.

BTW--I have been happily teaching Latino children for 15 years.

But I thought illegals had it bad?
