Touched on a Sunday?

Hi gang,

As many of us do, I satisfy both my curiosity and obsession by checking my case status online each day via the USCIS website. Considering that a "touch" == a government employee looking at your case file and thus updating the date you see when you examine your petition details, has anyone else experienced a "touch" on a Sunday? When I looked this morning, the "last updated" date was 3/23/08. That was/is yesterday. That was/is a Sunday. And that was/is Easter Sunday. As a former civil servant myself (albeit in a much different agency) this seems a bit odd to me...

Now mistake me not, I am thankful, I will take a "touch" anytime I can get it, regardless of the day so long as it helps to shorten my time in the proverbial visa waiting room, but still my curiosity was/is piqued. Perhaps a typo and someone actually updated it today? Anyone?

Thanks,

Jerry

SUndays seem to actually be one of the most popular touch/approval days... and then they wane as the week continues

Emmett Fitz-Hume: I'm sorry I'm late, I had to attend the reading of a will. I had to stay till the very end, and I found out I received nothing... broke my arm.

In a thread here where a former USCIS employee talks about his time with USCIS, he mentioned that most of the people reviewing the I129F's were teleworkers. So my guess is there's a quota for how many applications they touch/review in a week, and its just up to them what day they decide to do it.

Amazing! Ok, thank y'all for the feedback; interesting to know. Like I said, I was in a much different agency where practically noone worked on the weekends, nor were there any teleworkers/commuters.

Best,

Jerry

Hi,

I'm new to this and don't know how you "examine your petition details" to see if you have been "touched?

Thank you for your assistance,

Gerald

Hi Gerald,

You go here:

https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/jsps/index.jsp

and either create an account based on your petition case number (shown on your NOA1) or login to an existing account. There are instructions there too if you need them. Once you log into the system, you will see a listing of your petitions. Beside your case number will be a field (column) that says "Last Updated". If this date is newer than the date on your original NOA1, then you have been "touched" on the date shown. Keep track of this (by checking daily) and you'll know how much/often your case has been looked at by a USCIS case worker. They must enter (perhaps via barcode) the date anytime they look at your paperwork.

Hope that helps.

Best,

Jerry

When I was waiting for an approval,I was "touched" a couple of times on a Sunday.

July 24,2007-NOA1 was received
April 21,2008-K-1 visa denied.
June 3,2008-waiver filed at US Consalate in Panama
The interview went well, they told him it will take another 6 months for them to adjudicate the waiver
March 3,2009-US Consulate claims they have no record of our December visit, nor Manuel's interview
March 27,2009-Manuel returned to the consulate for another interrogation(because they forgot about December's interview),and they were really rude !
April 3,2009-US Counsalate asks for more court documents that no longer exist !
June 1,2009-Manuel and I go back to the US consalate AGAIN to give them a letter from the court in Colon along with documents I already gave them last year.I was surprised to see they had two thick files for his case !

ga1jin,

Yeah, perhaps so! It appears that your stuff has been touched more often than mine though, so I suspect you'll win the "race." 'Course, I didn't create my account with the Case Status Online "system" until the 18th or 19th of this month, so who knows if my stuff had been touched before then. We certainly have identical NOA1 dates, that's for sure!

Best,

Jerry

You never know. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to the touches. We'll see. Good luck!

Touches, unfortunately, have very little meaning and are not good indicators that your petition will be approved.

Keep your chin up, chances are there but it is not definite that something is on the way.
