Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

"President Bush says he has no doubts about launching the unpopular war in Iraq despite the "high cost in lives and treasure," arguing that retreat now would embolden Iran and provide al-Qaida with money for weapons of mass destruction to attack the United States."

I really hope in 10 months we get new speech writers, too.

Al-Qaida wasnt opperating in Iraq until we got there. So i guess he succeeded in making problems worse, in the hopes of I suppose, keeping Republicans in power.

I agree.

I don't think Bush has much of anything useful to say, certainly not on this issue. Its not like he's going to suddenly admit that it was a half-baked $hitty idea.

Bush is irrelevant these days anyway - and its not likely that he'll be getting a lot of press during and in the run-up to the election season.

Another Nixon. But, in the history book George Bush will be praised.

Yeah - like Nixon is "praised".

All that man has for a historical legacy is a bunch of yellowed newspaper clippings and a name plaque on the moon.

Agreed, GWB will be praised for his confrontation of radical Islam, and its defeat. He probably will be remembered more so for his ability to stave off the Dem's consistent and irrational desire to surrender to the radicals.

Nixon has his China foreign policy successes........

I think "it's defeat" is stretching it there.

But I do agree there will be some good things he will be remembered for even if people don't want to accept it. Let's not forget he inherited from Clinton the mess that caused 9/11. It was planned before Bush was President. He will be remembered for being the Pres when 9/11 happened and ppl were in favor of him after that and when he bombed Afghanistan and toppled the Taliban. I do wish more focus was put on that war of course, so that it won't fall back into the Taliban's hands. If he is remembered as a liar, then Clinton should be too.

I think there needs to be a greater focus on what's going on in Afghanistan. From what I understand its in a similar position to Iraq - there's a guerila war still going on over there, and I believe some military commanders have indicated that they need to send more troops there.

Well said, Brother Dean. The current monthly bill for Iraq war is $12-billion.

As for the economy...I think the Govts economy is effected by the war...but at the same time, hasn't the housing boom and then collapse done very bad damage? Can that be blamed on the President or on the private sector? Private IMO. Unless you want the government getting involved in every aspect of personal life(I don't). Isn't there a difference on how the economy is between what the govt is doing and what the private sector is doing?

Ask the profiteers of this war and they'll agree with the assessment that the war was worth it. They didn't pay any price, they just sat at the collections end of the deal. Some folks got very rich while others lost life and limb. To the former, it was certainly worth it no matter the price the latter paid.

Borrowing money to pay for the war has had a huge impact on the value of the dollar. Which make it more expensive to import goods, including oil into this country.

If there instead we had a tax to pay for the war, it would still affect us, but in a diffrent way.

Pay for the war? Now there's a novel idea. That approach would have meant an end to the adventure long ago. People don't like to actually pay for things these days. They like to charge it and have others worry about how to pay for it down the road. In the case of the Iraq war, it'll be our kids, their kids and grandkids who will pick up the tap for this illegal and misguided adventure. Not by their choice but because Bush felt it more appropriate that way.

This is what GWB is leaving to you and I and all of us as a parting gift plus many many more. By the time he leaves office it will be at 10 trillion plus ...

And for that what do we get?

Iraq in shambles, without any stability

3990 US soldiers dead

almost 30000 injured

But, oh yes1 we got Saddam and udey and Khusay...

National Debt Clocks and Savings Clocks

Truman, Ike, Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon, and Carter wiped out most of the World War II debt. Take a look. • Two parts of the federal government are running big surpluses. • We are going to hit a 50-year high</span> for debt as a percent of the economy (GDP). National-Debt-GDP-S.gif The eye-popping $9 trillion gross national debt is owed by the "General Fund." That's the part funded by our income taxes. Half of that goes for the military and to pay interest on the debt. Fortunately, two huge parts of the budget, Social Security and Medicare, are running huge surpluses.

Bush accomplished a number of good things for this nation and the world at large.

1. He opened up the public's eye to what 8 years of neocon-led Republican administration can do.

2. He demolished the credility and reputation of the Grand Old Party for many years to come.

3. He impressed upon the world, how bad policies in the US can efffect even tiny towns in places as

far away as Denmark to the point where many Europeans now feel they too should be given the

right to participate in U.S. presidential elections.

4. For the adventurous, he popularized the idea of " French Foreign Legionnaires" and mercenary

soldiers by introducing Blackwater and British-owned Armour groups.

Well, I could go on and on and on...
