There's so much doom and gloom in the news, and people complaining so much about things, that sometimes it's just nice to hear stories of people being thoughtful and kind.

I am sure we all have had a time where people did things that we did not expect, and if you haven't then I hope it happens for you soon!

My dad works at different car dealerships doing painting work on car bumpers, scratches etc. So he is in contact with lots of people during the week. He is well liked where he goes and talks to a lot of the people(I should add he is a pastor too and yes he gets along well with everyone, he is not weirdly religious, and yes he works outside of church). He had talked a lot about Kavi during my pregnancy, and also now that he's born, since it's their first grandbaby.

Well people at his jobs have given us gifts, people who don't even know me or Kavi. It has really touched me. Right when we were home from the hospital, my dad gave us a $20 bill that someone at one of his places gave him, and told him to tell us we can use it for a date night out, or for anything for the baby. Then today he came to my house with a gift from another place, they gave 3 very cute outfits plus an adorable big baby photo album. I personally don't know these people. I am amazed they care enough about Kavi bc of my dad to give us gifts.

At Sujeet's job, they chip in sometimes for people for special occasions, and for the baby they gave him a $150 gift card for Babies-R-Us, some of the people who signed the card he hardly knows. And his manager gave a $25 gift card for Babies-R-Us too, and a co-worker gave us a cute thing too.

My sister's boss at her job bought a gift for our Kavi too. More cute stuff. I have only met her 2 times shortly, but the excitement of the baby through my sister made her care to get a gift also.

These may sound like nothing, but I find it all very amazing. Add to it that during my pregnancy people bought us so many things for the baby and the baby's room that we hardly spent any money ourselves. It's such a blessing and I can't believe it. People can be so nice! And in turn it makes you want to be a generous person yourself and give as much as you can to others.

For every grump out there, there is a nice person. And sometimes that grump is just having a hard time in life and is sweet inside.

This one time, I was walking uphill barefoot in the snow, to go to school. A pickup truck drove by, they threw shoes at me, they hit me in the head. At first I was like ####### oh no you di'nt! But then I realized they were giving me shoes to wear!

True stories only please!

I've been incredibly fortunate to have witnessed, organized, and received such blessings and all have come from my work family. These are really too numerous to count, and have happened at various times when I or my colleagues have lost family members, been ill, had financial difficulties, or just been overly stressed in a job that many people seem to think is easy-peasy. Truly my work colleagues are more than colleagues and our entire school community rallies around both the faculty and staff and the families of students in time of need, or in time of triumph equally.

After Hurrican Katrina, when my family was greatly affected as well as the families of some students, the school worked together and raised close to $8000 to help out those families and a high school in Slidell, LA that needed aid.

I really feel blessed to be where I am.

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

I see a lot of these acts of kindness specifically related to newborns and their families.... people like to share in the joy of new life.

One of the nail techs at my nail salon was pregnant.... she and her husband were living with her aunt and she didn't speak much English. I was moved to dig out whatever I had leftover from my teenagers baby days to pass them along to this family. There's just something about new motherhood... esp to those of us who are mothers and who remember that time all too well.

A great marriage is not when the "perfect couple" comes together.

It is when an imperfect couple learns to enjoy their differences.

I know what you mean. Motherhood is a life altering experience, much more than I ever thought, and the gifts/help is great. I have friends expecting their 2nd baby, they have a girl and if this one is a boy I have some stuff I want to give them!

I also got a whole new perspective on being a first time mom and having a newborn, well b/c I just went through it, hehe. I vowed after having the baby that from now on, as long as I am able to, I will help every friend I have who has a new baby at home. I will offer to do dishes and laundry and more.

I have visited many people over the years in the hospital the day of or after them having their baby. You just go in, adore the baby, ask how the mom is, and then you leave and go back to your little routine. But when you are the one who had the baby, wow are things chaotic!! I never understood everything going on at that time until I went through it.

 Personal experience usually makes one more sensitive to others going through the same thing...
