youll probably get problems before that! what if you get stopped by the police and they want to see your green card? or if your employer wants to see it? or some other situation where you could need it?

how much is it to file for replacement if it was stolen?

It costs $370 to replace a lost/stolen green card (including biometrics). The cost is a bit punitive if you ask me, especially since the law requires PRs to carry a green card on them at all times.

You need to send a photocopy of the front and back of your greencard with your application for Removal of Conditions... if you don't have a replacement by then you will need to send a copy of the NOA1 for the I-90 form.... so you will need to apply for a replacement....

Also as already stated you are required by law to carry your greencard with you at all times....

Hmmm. it is good to know that I will need to carry a green card everywhere... so far I never had problems with that... I show my US driving license everywhere and nobody even asked me about my immigration status...

kezzies gc was approved 11/2005 which means it expires 11/2007, thats why they had to file for removal 08/2007

youre probably confused because the gc arrived 07/2006 but that was because it was lost in the mail before and they had to file to get a replacement.

I had to file for a replacement greencard because the original one went missing in the mail... and yes I had to pay the fee to get the thing....

So no I filed for Removal of Conditions about 80 days before the Greencard expired, which was Nov 9th 2007....

Yikes!

If my greencard were stolen, I sure would be wanting to notify USCIS of that fact!!

Who knows who has it! This might sound like scare tactics, but what if your original card was used in the commission of a crime?

Yeah, I'd file for a replacement.

yes you are right. i might find myself being arrested for a crime i did not commit. that's sounds a little scary.....just a little......

anyway, im getting ready to file it for next week. thanks again guys. i hate those stupid thiefs... gosh
