2. passport

3. two photos

4. translation (assume birth, police, divorce and all other certificate)

5.birth certificate.

6. if birth certificate not obtain, obtain notarized with both parent name and your name with full birthday and birth place

7 police certificate.

8. court paper (no need)

9. military record. (no need)

10. support evidence (yes you have to submit i864, the same one that you submit to NVC with all the evidence)

11. marriage certificate.

12. original document

13. custody paper (if you have children)

14. resume (no need)

15 visa extension notice. (if you have too)

that is all from the list, it also said you you just submit 1 copy of each documents when interviewed. so i guess just get what you can. and also make sure you obtain 2 or more copy of original because they want it.

Coolgt, no questions on I-864 .

For DS-230, still not clear, what should be include in the mail to NVC :

1. Write a nice cover letter to them .

2. DS-230 Form ( Part 1 with signature and Part 2 without signature )

3. Barcode sheet

4. Supporting documents ( Mentioned above ) and 2 pieces of photos.

Is there anything else NVC SEND TO US and we have to RETURN BACK to NVC ? No EMS Labels, right ? I want make sure I am 100% understand so that I do not make mistake. Help to answer this two question.

Thanks a lot!

It seems we need return one copy of the original NVC cover letter of the check list, how does this paper look like? Can you scan the one you got from NVC for reference ?

James did not mention about this check list sheet from NVC in his shortcut 2.0.

Thanks,

Lucy

Oh and one thing the lady just said to write the case number on the form ( right hand upper corner).

should we write the case # at the right hand top cornner of DS230 ? and paste a photo on the left hand top cornner?, apart from the other two extra photos to be send along with DS230?

I assume you have already checked with NVC that your embassy is now Appointment processing and therefore you must submit all documents with your DS-230 (their website still shows Guangzhou as Standard processing - which means you bring most of the documents to the interview - you don't send them to NVC). I read what coolgt is saying as you take the documents to the interview, not that you are submitting them to NVC - coolgt can you clarify this please?

Yes, you should write your case number in the top right hand corner of every form you submit. No, only send the 2 photos, no need to paste one in the top left hand corner of the form (you would probably get an RFE for that). As well you should send them a photocopy of each original document you submit (so original + 1 photocopy + and translations you need to do).

The 'passport' you submit is just a copy of the biographic page, you don't actually send the passport, just wanted to make sure you are aware of that.

Indianheart,

They do this all the time. Its standard procedure for security reasons.

In your US passport, you had to print your signature didnt you? And if you became a naturalized citize, you also have to "print" your full name on the certificate. Also most importantly, its says on forms I-864 and I-864EZ.... "Print Sponsor's Name" right smack in the middle.

I dont like they're process either but sometimes we cant always blame it on USCIS or NVC. We all knew they're picky and we always have to be careful.

Hi NoelandTintin,

Yes, you do have to sign your passport - but 'printing' a name and a 'signature' are two completely different things. Also on the I-864 we printed the name, we didn't write it in with pen (not to be confused with the signature area) and someone else mentioned they had the I-864 notorized - just want to mention that this is not required.

JimandJosil, sorry to hear they gave you a hard time with that. Absolute baloney.

NoelandTintin, that is absolute ####### IMO. You can ABSOLUTELY blame the USCIS / NVC on that one. It does not state to HANDWRITE. It says to print sponsor's name. That reviewer clearly had a bad day, got divorced or just got dumped.

The instructions at the top clearly state:

Print clearly OR type your answers using CAPITAL letters. Of course there are exceptions such as the signature. Print sponsors name should not be one of them

Is it possible it was not in Capital letters vs. being typed?

On my US Passport and Naturalization, it said SIGNATURE. As for security reasons, the signature is the defining element and not a printed sponsor's name. "Printed" is for legibility reasons and not security in this form.

Problem isn't over yet. We were told not to wait for the letter from the NVC so we sent out the new I-864 right away but now another operator told us we should have waited for the letter....huh. C'mon, we just want to have our case completed.

Depends. Historically they haven't appreciated people sending in forms early without the proper coversheets, it seems to hold them up - could depend on whomever is processing it though.

Ok, so this embassy is still Standard processing, I think Lucy thinks she is sending her civil documents to NVC rather than presenting them at the interview.

Am I the only one that is finding this whole thread confusing?

China embassy is standard processing. I wish it appointment post though. It will be a lot easy than waiting from the embassy it self.

It would take forever to get an embassy letter since there are alway backlog and sometime paper stuck at custom. or they store them at their warehouse until your case is call. as for appointment post you know when your appointment is and make sure everything is right.

i wish that this option change in the future for all the hassle that everyone else might have.

Coolgt, thanks for the clarify.

But, I think cover letter is the letter we write to NVC stating who we are and what documents are included in the mail, and no shortcut.

Cover sheet is a letter from NVC with Barcode and " You MUST RETURN THIS PAGE along with the requested documents to:

National Visa Center

ATTN: CMR

32 Rochester Avenue

Portsmouth, NH 03801-2909 "

Anyone else can help to clarify ??????????????????????????

Many thanks

Yes, that is the other sheet you have to send also. Most people also include a 'coversheet' listing the documents they are including.

Yes, and that`s exactly what I did. I sent coversheet listing what is included in, and I write on each page of the documents the case number.

What I did was use the computer to fill in as much as I could and then printed it out. I then handwrote the address in and other items that the electronic document couldn't fit in or understand (like certain dates or phone numbers). I believe I used all capitals. You can mix and match handwriting and computer-typed. As long as it's legible and the signature is handsigned you should be fine.

should the DS230 form also to be print or typed in capitals? in the form it only says print or type(capitals not mentioned)In the current address the space is not enough to print in capitals , so can i print in small letters, or can it be handwritten in capitals.

No need to use all capitals. I didn't hand write any of it, but it is acceptable.
