This probably doesn't fit here, but maybe I can get some help.

What is a good cushion of time for getting through a POE. We will be coming through San Francisco and as it stands, we have about 3 hours. Our travel agent has given us the option of another flight to our final destination, but it means we would have 2 hours at the POE. Thoughts?

I'd stick with 3 hours. Some people get called for secondary processing, and this can add up to an hour or more to the wait time. My husband didn't go through that, so he was out in the normal amount of time. I just figure there's enough stress that day, why add to it by having one hour less to clear immigration.

I went through there about a year ago. You could probably do 2 hours, but I would recommend 3 just in case its really busy.

I like at least three hours at a POE.

Jamie76,

I just wanted to say that I am happy for you. I know your journey was a bit of a struggle at times. Thank God that is all behind now. God Bless you both and I wish you nothing but happiness for your future together! :luv:

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

Hey mate, glad everything is working for you. Tik is also nearing the end of this part of the process (sending in packet 3 the day after tomorrow). I was wondering if you bought a one way ticket from Thailand to the US and if you did, how much did it cost. Everything I find costs almost as much as a round trip. The best deal I found to JFK was $882 and she would have a layover in Abu Dhabi. So what's the plan for you?

Hi there...

I went with a one way ticket as the round trip was about $100 more. It came out to $1065 with tax. It will be a straight flight from BKK to San Fran. From there we travel to LAX then to Tucson. Your ticket is pretty reasonable.

Try this place: I don't know if they offer tickets from BKK to New York but a round trip ticket from New York to BKK is advertised at about $650 http://www.consolidated-fares.com/country....th&code=BKK Another option is to look at some of the travel agents in BKK. They usually have cheaper fares.

Thanks a lot. I've been looking into it more and found a few flights a little cheaper. Just don't know when i have to buy them by to get the price.

we went through sfo and had a two hour layover. we barely made it and we cut almost all the way to the front of the line.

my wife is currently in thailand and she is coming back with her daughter this saturday. again, they have the same 2 hour layover and i'm worried.

i'd go with more time if its available. we don't have the option, because they are on united airline's last flight out.

good luck

Jamie, what airline or did I miss that?

Northwest. All other airlines were the same price or a bit higher except China Airlines which I don't particularly care for.

Coming to JFK, I would have her check locally with Thai Airways. It may cost $100 to $200 more, but they have a direct BKK to JFK. Much easier, no connection, no lost baggage, etc. If you want to make her even happier, spend an additional $200 and ungrade to "premium economy". With a 44" seat pitch and 2-3-2 seating, it is better than domestic first class in the US. The seat reclines and has a footrest, so even at 6' I can get several hours of decent sleep.

Thai Airways also does BKK-LAX direct, which is how Rin and I travelled both trips last year.

Best of luck!
