Yes TboneTX, I definitely plan to be present for my fiancée's interview. I not only want to be of moral support to her, but also be available for any questions the CO might want to throw at me. Especially since I'm aware there might be one or two red flags on our case and I want the opportunity to clarify them and prove is a bona-fide, ongoing relationship.

I don't quite see why a "passive presence" could not be seem as favorably. For what I gather, and speaking of personal experience, a petitioner's presence at interview time might well be the difference between getting or not getting approve. Can you please elaborate on your train of thought?

Its a hit or miss, honestly. Several of my husbands friends and himself went alone with no issues. Others have issues without P there. If P cant be there, usually if you frontload evidence youre fine. Never a sure thing but it's not required and doesnt mean youll be rejected if you dont have them there.

Also what TBone means is just that: its hit or miss. They could still treat you like ####### even if P is there! Lol

There are plenty of recent reviews all around here. Not much has changed in a year, and my husband had his about 8 months back.

Gotcha! I appreciate the insight information ?. As stated, I definitely plan to be present. As far as front loading the petition, I followed step by step the advice given on this forum. However, I'm still not quite sure if that actually constitutes front loading or not, I definitely didn't send any Facebook, Skype, WhatsApp logs, or "unofficial evidence", (for lack of better words), etc, like others has done. I pretty much followed to the Tee the forms' instructions and followed VJ's advice, plus provided plenty of evidence, (photos, passport stamps, plane tickets, hotel bills, etc.) of our relationship during our 3 personal meetings, but only as requested by the instructions. So that's another reason I like to be at the interview, hopefully all goes as planned, fingers crossed Thanks again for the reply!

Can someone recommend a good, (certified?) translations individual or office in Guayaquil? For what can I gather, all documents that are in Spanish and my Ecuadorian fiancée needs for her consular interview need to be translated to English, is it not?

A translator for the interview? There are both English and Spanish speaking workers there. Though it seems they prefer to have the beneficiary speaking in English, they couldn't expect every Ecuadorian to speak great English! Lol.

Thanks, that's exactly what I wanted to verify. You got it right about se habla Español in Ecuador, but wanted to make sure what the consulate requires being they seem to make their own rules. I'm very sure you know exactly where I'm coming from TBoneTX ?. After reading these forums I'm not taking any chances, oh no.. thanks again sir.

We did have to translate some documents when we filed the I-485. Since I speak both English and Spanish, I translated the documents, and I enclosed a letter attesting to my fluency in Spanish. Our petition was approved with no RFE's nor an interview.

Awesome! That gives me piece of mind since I was thinking everything needed to be translated in English and having to pay someone for it. I'm also fluent in both languages so I'll be also doing my own translations when AOS comes around. I really appreciate your quick response!

Flashbacking to the origin and original spirit of this thread for a moment:

The last beneficiary of the 6 known VJ couples hosed at the Guayaquil consulate during our era became naturalized yesterday.

Of note, all 6 couples remain happily married.

The Amcit husbands remain enraged at our treatment back then.

Everyone who's dealing with that place now can be thankful that things have apparently largely settled down.

I'm not taking about the K-2 visa steps, but more like how to process the required "Permiso de Salida de Menor de Edad" and any other requirements imposed by Ecuadorian immigration. We want to do a follow-to-join K-2 and will like to have an idea of what's required. Thanks.

You either need a document notarized from his dad/mom saying that he/she is okay for the kid to leave the Ecuador... or a sole custody of the kid.....I am in the same boat....K1/K2 visa
