I don't have a source for this story I just read it in Coffee News but thought it was kinda funny

It's a subject most people don't talk about openly, but everyone probably spends some time thinkings about who would attend their funeral and what might be said about them. Amir Vehabovic, of Gradiska, Bosnia, decided to take his musings farther by faking his death to see who would come to mourn him. He ordered a false death certificate and he bribed undertakers to provide an empty coffin, then sent invitations to 45 people to attend his funeral. Spying on them from nearby bushes, he was dismayed that only his elderly mother showed up. "I really thought more of you would turn up," he wrote in an angry letter to his friends.

I don't know about invitations, but half the time, I think some people just show up the free food that comes after the funeral ceremony itself.

As far as my funeral arrangements go... I think I'll write in my Will that everyone should be dressed in a Halloween costume and that I shall be buried as Darth Vader, Dark Lord of the Sith.

On second thought... maybe I shouldn't. I don't think my wife would find that amusing and I'd be dead, so I wouldn't get to see the pictures.

Adding to the Star Wars theme, I'd like to be placed on top of a big pyre and burned up out in the open air like Darth Vader. Something about that is just cool, like the old time heroes. Course, I wouldn't want people bringing marshmallows and the permits would be sort of impossible to arrange, but it would be nice.

If the story is true it is pretty sad, but at the same time while you are alive you should have a fairly good handle of who your friends are. When you are really dead I doubt you care about who shows at your funeral.
