Nobody appears to have Vaccination records on me

I submitted a request to my local health place and besides a phone call saying that it would cost £35 and that they'd call me back when they get the records, I just called them and they said that they apparently had nothing.

I tried the 'Health Board' and they had nothing and referred me to lots of other numbers. Nothing.

Anyone else had this problem? It seems nobody has any records anywhere of me ever having any vaccinations. I tried my high schools phone number as I had some injections there, however, the school is closed and is currently being rebuilt.

Here's to 20 injections next Wednesday and a huge bill to match

My medical notes had no record of my vaccinations either so I just got my GP to do them again before the medical.

Nurse at my Surgery did the ones I was missing.

Why pay?

There was no record of any of my Vaccines in Canada- after so many years they aren't kept anymore.

I went for a Titres test- they will take blood and test for what you have been immunized for.

You can either go to your Doctor and ask to be sent to the Lab for a Titres or you can get all your shots redone.

Well I just called the woman back at my local GP, apparently they DO have record of one I got at high school, even gave a date for it, but not the other one I got at high school, and none of the ones I got after birth.

She also said that I can not get the jabs re-done if I have already had them. So as far as my GP goes, I give up. If I need to get the jabs re-done at the medical, so be it.

She just said that during the medical I should give them her number so she can tell them they have record of my BCG (or whatever), but also to tell them they have no records of anything older than that. I moved house many years ago, and registered with a new practice, but apparently (or so she says) my records were not passed on, and my old practice has no records on me as I'm not registered with them anymore.

Complete joke.

I never had any records, either, so I took this document to my GP. (There may be a UK equivalent or it may be exactly the same.... check the panel physicians' websites.) Anyway, my doctor read the document, brought some of my immunizations up to date, then provided a record of all vaccinations I had received since childhood based on his British medical knowledge and familiarity with me. (I'm from the UK and have no record of vaccinations from there.)

Bruce didn't have any record of his vaccinations either, so like others on here he just had them done again at the GP's (cost = free!). He only needed the MMR and the DTP. For most people on here, that's all they'll need -- why do you think you'll need 20?

20 was just an exaggerated number.

I guess I will call back tomorrow and ask to get them re-done, even though one of the ladies there emphazized I could not get vaccinations re-done if I have already had them before.

I had exactly same problem as you. They had my high school ones but not infant ones. Obviously I was an infant and don't remember having them and they cannot prove I had them, so for the sake of my health they agreed to do them. There's no risk if you have already had them only reason the GP quibbled slighty was the cost to the practice. Should have kept better track of my records!

Much clearer now! The woman who told you you couldn't have them re-done is either 1) ignorant or 2) worried about the cost to the practice (see debz's comment above). People get them re-done all the time. Perservere! The worst that can happen is that you fork out extra dosh on the day at the medical to have them done then.

Good luck at the medical -- I'm sure all will be fine.

KJ,

I had MMR and DTP done last Friday. I just ask the nurse at my practice. She went and get them injected me and printed me record. ALL for Free. If you wait for medical you will have to pay so it is worth annoying people at your GP practice

Trying to pre-empt things, I had a word with my GP, whom I've had since I was a lad, and the only vaccination records they had were a couple from when I was in school, nothing of early childhood etc.

To be honest, I'm just gonna arrange to have the relevant ones (I mentioned I was emigrating) shortly now, before NOA2 pops up. Shouldn't be any cost at all, to my knowledge.

edit - which I see Laurence above me did!

Wait wait wait. Slow down. Have a look again at the age ranges for particular jabs. If you're between 19 and 49, you'll have a much less jabbed arm! http://www.usembassy.org.uk/cons_new/visa/...ccinechart.html

You'll need DTP and MMR; if you're a woman under 27 you'll need the HPV as well. BCG doesn't cover any of these, it's for TB.

Unfortunately you don't need the BCG for your medical, they don't do those (or use them over here in the States). If I was you I would make an appointment to see your Nurse Practitioner at your local GPs surgery. She/he is the one who will do the injections for you. Take your list of required vaccinations with you, explain to her why you will need them (surgery doesn't have any notes on injections given to you) and ask her to bring you up to date and then give you written confirmation of said inoculations.

When making the appointment just say it is for an immunisation history (if they ask). There is no risk to you through having them done again so for them to imply that there is is wrong. Medical receptionists in the UK are notoriously snotty, just ignore them and make an appointment.

If you are over the age of 17 you will not need HepB, btw, that's an age appropriate shot only.

I'm pretty sure you only need these:

1) Diptheria, tetanus and pertussis

2) Tetanus and diphtheria toxoids

3) Measles, Mumps and Rubella

4) Polio (inactivated)
