We are starting to plan for my wife's first trip back to Russia, which will be this summer.

For her return, we are considering LAX. She'd have to connect from Aeroflot to Delta. The proposed layover is 3 hours, 40 minutes.

I've never entered at LAX -- and she won't have her green card yet. (She'll be travelling on her K3.) But I'm sure others have experience here ...

Is this enough time for her to comfortably navigate passport control/customs and move to Delta's gate?

I believe so since she could easily walk between the terminals she would need to connect through - if she doesn't have her green card yet, the lines can be long for immigration but I'd think nearly 4 hours should be plenty of time

It all depends on how many other arriving flights come in at the same time. But i think that should be sufficient.

Last time I went through there I think it took pretty close to 3 hours to get to the gate for the connecting domestic flight.

Yup, but the walk is pretty short, and carts are free if you have to recheck luggage.

I don't know how long it will take with the immigration process but I have been through LAX three times and they are generally pretty quick depending on the time of year. To ensure things go quicker you could try and book a flight where she lands at off peak times - maybe that would help? To be honest I have found that if you miss an internal flight to a specified airport, they are pretty good at sticking you on the next flight to the destination with very little delay - hasn't happened to me but has happened to my OH a couple times and one time he even got home quicker than he was expecting!!!

It took Claudeth about 45 minutes to get out of customs. There are shuttles running around the air port so she should easily make her connection.
