NME magazine chatroom! It's no longer there now... :(

Angst? when did you used to post to that? I me up with a bunch of people through that site back in the day!

Nah, I never posted much on Angst. That was just a message board when I knew of it. The NME Chat was really a piss-poor chatroom, but we weren't the only couple that we knew that met and got married. I started chatting there in September of 2001. I think they closed the chat sometime in 2003 and some of the old chatters went to the Angst board.

I started on Angst when it launched in 1996 - it was the first internet message board I got addicted to! (I was all about listserv prior to that). I met loads of people through it, especially after I moved to London, through going to gigs and what not. I probably stopped posting there in 1999-2000, and I know a boatload of people who got together through that!

Barry and I met on an online poetry website where we both posted poetry. I would imagine the great majority of those filing for K-1's now meet online.

Yahoo chat in Generation X chat room. Jen just walked in there one night and it was love at first type lol. Honestly there was something about the way she came across in chat that got us talking. The rest is history.

  • 1 month later...

Mine's kinda rock and roll but nowhere near as glam as it sounds. I met Matt when his band at the time was touring the UK and Europe. We became friends and things developed over time.

Kris and I met through an online RP game about a year and a half or so ago. Started out as friends.... then began spending every day together both ingame and via emails. Became best friends and quickly realized how much we truly had in common with each other. He came out to visit last year for 6 weeks and we really knew at that point just how deep our feelings were. The rest as they say is history.

ours is so totally unromantic :) we met working on a terrible horror film together in buffalo NY. he was camera assistant and i was just a PA, but got adopted by the camera team. a month of staying up all night cleaning fake blood off movie cameras, eating stale krispy kreams and hiding from the drive-bys in the dodgy neighbourhood we were shooting in... it's enough to warm even the coldest of hearts ;) i guess we clung to one another! good times :) after that i couldn't bear to be apart from him, we managed a few visa waiver visits, but finally got married feb 2007 and have been living in the uk together ever since. just a month till we can get back to NY - and thank god, the film industry over here's been an impossibly tough nut to crack for him! not what you know but who... couldn't be more true. anyway all over and good :D

Well, it certainly is an interesting circumstance for meeting!

I'm from Buffalo, NY, btw...I don't recall hearing a horror film was done here...but then I hardly read the paper and I don't live in the dodgy part of the city either!

the movie was called 'poultrygeist' and was shot summer 2005 in an abandoned mcdonalds - not sure about the name of the area now but it was well outside the city center. there were plenty of buffalo locals turned out to volunteer to be chicken zombie extras!! :)

Chatroom.

None of your business what kind.......... :P

Oh now that just made me really curious!

Chris and I met in November 2005... I had been with my previous boyfriend for 5 and a half years and we broke up in the October... I had nowhere else to go, so continued to live with him for a bit (I also worked with him too, so as you can probably imagine, it was a very awkward and stressful time!) I decided that I was going to quit my job and go and stay with my Dad, Step Mum and 2 sisters for a month in Maryland and then decide what I wanted to do with my life etc. (My Dad emigrated over there 6 years ago this year)

I landed in America on 3rd November and on the 5th my Step Mum decided that she and all her girlfriends were going to take me out on the town to cheer me up. We ended up in this little pub in Hagerstown called 'The Corner Pub' and proceded to drink copius amounts of vodka... My Step Mum's friend is EXTREMELY loud (Bless her.. She's lovely) and she kept going up to every man at the bar and pointing at me and announcing VERY loudly that my name was Tasha and they were on the hunt for an American husband for me  Got quite embarassing...

Anyway... After that, I stood at the bar to order some more drinks and I got talking to the guy stood next to me (Chris) and that was pretty much it from then on! We clicked instantly, he got on with everyone in the crowd and ended up staying with us the entire evening. I knew he was the one really when he called me the next morning, even after my Step Mums loud friend puked on his shoes in the parking lot :lol:

The weird thing is, he had been in Texas for 6 months staying with his sister and he had arrived back in Maryland the same day as me! Fate I think :luv:

I ended up extending my stay for 3 months and the rest they say is history :D

Am LMAO @ some of the stories  Especially the Statue of Liberty shooter one!
