At any rate, one kills me most days, so I can't imagine that many children.

Absolutely. I couldn't, in any way, cope with that many children. The top of my head would blow off.

However, if they want to have 17+ kids that's up to them, it isn't as if they are claiming SS benefits - they pay for it all themselves. Be it through publicity or their jobs, it's irrelevant. Speaking as a member here (and not a mod) I think it's a little nasty to keep on about the state of her #######. She's had 17 kids, so bloody what, her husband obviously likes it down there and that's all that matters, surely? And let's not forget it takes two to tango, yet it is Mrs Duggar who is getting all the rude comments made about her. ;)

 mags it's true BUT I wonder how many more children she can safely have before she has problems with her uterus or dies from child birth. it can't be far off now.

Life is a ticket to the greatest show on earth.

I find them a little creepy as well... and I feel sorry for the kids. They aren't individuals, they are little clones of their parents.

Well, the most children one woman has managed to have is 69 - so she has quite a way to go! ;)

Hey, just want to clarify that it doesn't offend me when people say these things (very little does offend me, truth be told) but I just wonder at what point it becomes acceptable to slag off the woman and b!tch about her ####### because she has so many children (which her and her husband are supporting themselves).

I draw the line at 5 kids. More than 5 and her ####### is fair game.

They have no debt and support themselves - what is the problem? Just because you may not subscribe to their beliefs does not mean they are weird, creepy, or bad people in any way. They are raising children that have values and are good, respectable members of society. They aren't having these children irresponsibly - they clearly support them and love them and they seem to have a great family support system going on. I think it is very rude to be so judgmental about these people when they haven't done anything wrong and seem to me to only be very nice, polite people who stick to what they believe in. It seems to me that they are simply following basic biblical principles. I'm certainly not trying to start a religious debate about what religion is better or how people disagree with certain principles, etc, but I cannot see how saying negative things about these people is in any way justified when they have only been good, decent members of society as far as I can tell.

It bothers me when people suddenly see something in the bible and use it to justify what they want to do.

Are they saying the bible doesn't say they should adopt?

That is the crux of the issue to me...most pro-lifers love babies, but only their babies. Children waiting for adoption are ignored.

And yes, one of the reasons I wrote to my fiance in the first place was, she had a young child, and I wanted to help raise another child without bringing another person into this world.

Quite frankly, don't we have enough people aready?

Why do we ignore the part of the bible about being good stewards of our world?

enuff......

They increase the overall world demand for food, where the supply isn't even capable of meeting current demands.

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

This kind of reminds of the McCaughey septuplets and how the parents said it was God's will that she had 7 kids.... erm, nevermind that she used the science of fertility drugs to get pregnant with 7 kids... AND they already had one kid. But I guess one child wasn't enough of a blessing. But that's ok, they got loads of cash, goods, and whatnot to support them. God's will, indeed....

And now I'm sure they get a healthy income from being on T.V all the time.

uh-huh!

you are 100% correct.. i worry more about arid areas of the world or other parts of the world ..where it is part of a certain faith not to use birth control...
