Should a strong grasp of economics be a prerequisite for being President?

I disagree. I think economics and finance is such a basic part of governance that any leader should be expected to have a strong grasp. Not necessarily strong enough to get a PhD, but strong enough to follow the conversation without a translator.

That brings up a good point. They not only need to understand economics well enough to appoint smart guys, they also need to be able to appoint ethical guys whose policies jibe with their vision of America.

I kind of have faith in McCain to learn what he needs to learn, take the job seriously and keep up with matters, if he becomes president. I think though, with SO many advisors and such a huge staff running around, it's really unrealistic and unfair to think that just HE is running the country. So I agree that having a great head on his shoulders and savvy judgment is key.

I really love that McCain will admit if he doesn't know about something, rather than just BS'ing and pretending to know. This is a huge deal for me

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

What's that got to do with anything xD I'm sure everyone's see it though before, yeh, was a pretty big deal :P

Saw bits of last night's Republican debate on the news this morning...I don't know, it's frustrating me :( I keep liking the candidates and then getting sick of them really fast.

I've always liked McCain, liked him in 2004, etc., still like him a lot. But now a worrisome thing is that he seems really really staunch on his opinions, like they're set and he wouldn't change them in the face of pretty contradictory evidence. It's like a really strongheaded grandpa who has the best intentions in mind but maybe is just a bit out of the loop these days

But then Romney still seems like such a slimeball and did anybody notice in the debates last night, it seems like someone's told him to consciously and focusedly try to ensure that he keeps this little smile on his face and little jolly twinkle in his eye at all times :crying: He didn't USE to have that a couple weeks ago. So untrustworthy, creeps me out.

Uncle Sam could give us all our k1/k3/AOS/whatever else fees back and we could go out and boost the economy for them :) Anybody wanna write and tell them?
