Why is my processing time getting extended?

Hey everyone,

I was just looking at my timeline and it now says the estimated time is till June 12th. However about one month ago it said May 28th, what may have created the change and how close of an estimate is this?

If I understand "how it works" correctly, it adds the current average wait time to the filing date.. So if the current average increases a couple weeks, it will push the date back.. Just hypothesizing, though...

These are just estimates and as new data is collected, the times will change. Right now they are growing longer. It sucks but we can't think the times are gospel....only estimates.....

Hopefully by next month it will go faster.

I mean even if one month is added I can probably live with that, I just hope there is not added 5 months making this a one year process. That could be quite distressing.

Has anyone had to wait more than 8 months?

When I filed July 9th, I was given an estimated date of October 25 and it has moved constantly. Actually within a month it moved to December. Well, now it is January 21st and my adjucated date is estimated at January 22nd. Yesterday it said January 8th, so don't put too much weight into the timeline date. It is just that - an estimated date.

It's a long process - be prepared for the long haul.

Mine is getting shorter

I think it just takes the stats from other filers and how quickly petitions are getting approved and gives an estimate.

Dave, I see we sent our petitions and our NOA1's have the same date!

I wouldn't fret though...I'm sure you'll get your NOA2 sooner than June!! Way sooner!!!

You are simply observing reported data being averaged. Sometimes there are huge errors in the reported data. The sample is actually pretty small. Timeline data from filing to interview including milestones was available to you before you filed a petition. It will take as long as it takes. Eight months from filing to interview would be a pretty speedy timeline for 2008. If there are any complications, it could be much longer. You could also get lucky and surge ahead. Mostly any given case's timeline is a guess. Guessing shorter than 8 months is wishful thinking.

The estimates are usually pretty accurate - especially the closer you get to the 'possible adjudication' date. The dates fluctuate mostly due to members entering/updating their time-lines (or not updating them).

Yep, 8 months is probably about average that I'd expect for 2008. I am currently past 7 months past filing, no visa.

Just hang in there, man.. It's not going to be easy, but when you get through it, it's going to be rewarding.

It's just averageing together the data its currently been given so for example if Molly & Bob took 8 months and had just entered their NOA2 data in suddenly your date will be longer. If three weeks later Matt & Jennifer enter their data and they got an NOA2 in four months, the date will be moved forward anywhere between a few days, and a week or two depending on the size of the sample. It's simple averages.

Mine says my adjudication date is October 28, 2007. I'm still waiting. Don't count on your projected timeline to be accurate. Everybody is different. The best advice I can give you is to find something to keep you busy.
