Dave, don't worry, man (I know it's easier said than done)! I'd guess there is a 80+% chance your total wait will be between 7½ to 9½ months. All you can do is wait it out. Don't panic. Things will come, in time.

If you need to vent or talk about things along the way, VJ'ers feel your pain!

Here is another question, what is the most amount of time you have seen someone wait? 2 years?

I don't think I've seen people wait more than a year, and even then that's usually some issue with a background check, or paperwork going missing in the mail. I think you can reasonably expect to wait seven or eight months at the most.

My Timeline

Summer 2005 - Introduced online by a mutual friend

December 2005- Meet face to face. Mark 12/20 official start date.

June 9, 2007 - NOA1 from VSC

February 20, 2008 - APPROVED!!!

February 21, 2008 - paperwork forwarded to NVC.

February 27, 2008 - paperwork sent to Consulate.

March 6, 2008 - Packet 3 recieved.

March 19, 2008 - Packet 3 returned. (minus checklist!)

April 21, 2008 - Returned checklist. All Packet 3 in London.

May 7, 2008 - Medical.

May 30, 2008 - Interview. APPROVED.

July 27, 2008 - Arrives in US.

August 8, 2008 - Legal Wedding

I just looked at our estimated timeline and it now say April 5. When I first put in our info back in Sept, that date was Feb. 20. Go figure. As long as CSC is not processing apps at a high rate, your date will continue to change farther out. If they begin to process at a faster rate, then your date will move up which is what I think will begin to happen very soon. Remember, the date is just a computerized estimate, nothing concrete. And it is based on the amount of apps processed by folks that are inputting their info on VJ.

I'd like to make sure of one thing. Everybody in that topic who said that the wait should be 8 or 9 months, did you mean the total wait between I-129F is sent and the K-1 visa is received or did you mean the wait between I-129F is sent and USCIS approves the petition (NOA2 sent)?

It shouldn't be 8 months, but it CAN be eight months from NOA1 to NOA2.

It depends on the consulate too - someone from the DR can realistically expect between a year and two years, because that's how long it usually takes...(I think that is closer to 2 years) ... but for most, it'll take under a year.

That's total time between I-129f filing and visa in hand. I filed in the middle of the filing rush and still had petition approval in 4½ months, but it's now over 7 months from filing and we are still waiting for visa interview. As others are pointing out, several factors are involved.

Well I got my NOA 1 fairly quickly, but hopefully I don't have to wait till 2010 for this thing to be complete. I'd rather go move to the country for 6 months and then do a DCF.

My advice is not to rely solely on the VJ timeline, it DOES change depending on the data coming in from members and when they are recieving noa2's and NOA1's.

its there as an estimate, nothing more. dont stress over it

"VJ Timelines are only an estimate, they are not actual approval dates! They only reflect VJ members. VJ Timelines do not include the thousands of applicants who do not use VJ"

I posted on another thread, but I filed I-129F August 2, 2007 and am just getting approved for NOA2 (electronically). I am still waiting for the NOA2 letter though, so 6 months for that part is what I saw from the California Center.

USCIS claims to have had a flood of applications for Visa's the end of July 2007, just before they raised the processing fees in August 2007, so this along with the holidays seems to have extended that part of the process. From what I have read, the rest of the Visa process will vary, because you and your beneficiary have to fill out forms and get paper work done, so that will vary and depend on how quickly that goes. Good luck and relax!
