HI everybody!!!!I am new here and I really need some help. I am waiting for my appointment in the embassy. But this is not for a k1 visa. It's a work visa with residency. However, my boyfriend (who lives in New York and is an american citizen) wants to make all the procedures for the K1 visa. I dont know if there will be a problem since I am waiting for another process. He wants me back in new york but I am afraid i have problems if people in the embassy realize I have two open processes. PLEASE!!!!!! TELL ME WHAT I CAN DO!!!!!! I really miss my boyfriend and i want to be with him but i have to wait for my work visa.....

Hi!

I'm pretty sure you cannot get them both, but if you go there on a work visa you cannot ask in USA for your visa status to be changed, so it'll take much longer to come back home and to go through the k1.

The point is you should start your K1 and the sooner the better.

Good luck!

Thanks a lot..... but should i go for the k1 visa even though i have a process with a work visa???

If you intend to marry in the near future, get the K-1. This will save potential headaches going forward. Having the work visa and a K-1 pending, can create problems at the point of entry (POE). Of course, this all depends on the answers you provide during the US entry process.

Determine your future plans and plan accordingly. Plan for success!

Specifically which visa are you currently applying for already? This is a very important question. Without knowing, we cannot give reliable advice.

pushbrk,

See the highlighted portion. Either way, with a work visa, there may be a conflict if the K-1 is pending on POE arrival.

Well, what if you just give up on your work visa? Actioly i think you need an advise from somebody who's knows better. Why don't you try to call straight to the embassy to see what they can tell?

I'm sorry, i don't know for sure.

I'm looking for an answer like H2B H1B etc. Stay tuned and you'll understand why it matters.

If you would simply answer the question about the work visa, we can help you.

If you are applying for an H1B visa, you don't need a fiance visa. Any other "work visa" the answer might be different. I'm trying to help you.

Well it's not a H1B or H2B visa. It's a visa as a nanny (green card by employer sponsored labor certification through PERM). so far, I am waiting for my I-140 immigrant petition for alien worker to be approved. But I have been waiting for almost 3 years. I know this is not a K1 subject but my boyfriend is getting anxious to start filing my K1 since it takes about 6 months approx and i dont know how long i have to wait for the whole process regarding my work visa. If someone knows about this subject, please, please, let me know!!!.....

The visa you are applying for is probably this one:

http://exchanges.state.gov/education/jexch...vate/aupair.htm

Or this one:

http://travel.state.gov/visa/temp/types/types_1267.html

If you read up on them, you might understand why William earlier said to stop processing of the visa if marriage to a USC is in your future.
