They gave us a little pedometer here at work during Fitness month. They said we should get 10,000 steps a day. I tried it out for a day, not including my workout, just to see how many steps I take on average. It was less than 4,000.

Does anyone know if that Myth, pouring regular coca cola on a car eats off the paint? (I don't know what kind of cheap paint tht is) I heard it does the same thing to your teeth eats up the enamel?

life really rocks when one wears a long skirt with an elastic waistband.

elastic or tie waistbands are the devil! that's when the weight creeps on because you don't notice like you would if it were a button/zipper style!

I ran 3 miles in 30 minutes today without stopping! I don't know if you remember, but this has been a goal for me for quite a while now, and I finally did it!

CONGRATS! that is my goal too - havent hit it yet :(

Yesterday I got up to go to the bathroom approximately 9 times here at work. The bathroom is approx 90 feet from my desk. That's 810 feet. Also, I walked to the front door to get the shuttle to get to the back pkg lot where my car is. That is about a 900 foot walk and since I did it coming into work that's 1800 feet. Not counting all of the other steps I took I'd say in total I at LEAST walked 2610 feet or 1.7 miles. :)

I also had a huge cardio workout whose name cannot be mentioned

;)

I *am* going to ease into the idea of dieting so that come Tuesday I'll be in full swing. This weekend I plan on walking with the hubster on the beach for at least 2 miles a day. I will also replace my bagel with peanut butter in the morning with one slice of whole wheat toast with blueberry jam on top. :innocent:

hey bridget - i think that the whole wheat toast with the peanut butter (natural or reduced fat preferably) would be better than the blueberry jam. otherwise you arent getting any protein and you will feel hungry later.

Thanks! I thought I'd never get there. I always seemed to ####### out after 2.5 miles, but I really pushed today.

You'll get there too!

I can do it physically. I know I can. I do mixed intensive cardio for an hour. I do an hour of interval circuit training followed directly by an hour of high impact kickboxing without stopping.

My issue is - my HEAD. The idea of just being on the treadmill and running, running, running is so boring and depressing to me - I want to do it, because you burn a crapload of calories and so I can say I did it - but I just cannot wrap my head around it. HELP!

I think I'm a weirdo, but I do arithmetic in my head - it helps me pass the time. If I'm running for 30 minutes, after the first minute I'm 1/30 of the way there, then after 2 minutes 1/15, and so on and so forth. As time goes on I do it more often - calculate the fraction remaining or completed every 30 seconds or 15 seconds. This may not work for anyone else but me though.

I know what you mean about it being a psychological thing though. I really don't feel significantly more "tired" after 2 miles than after 1. So theoretically, I could run forever! yeah right!

Jenn I do that type of stuff too. And actually I want to talk to you maybe in a weekly thread or via PM about the actuarial stuff. I am in a related field and I am thinking about looking into studying for the exams and wondering what is involved.

Wow that's awesome Jenn! I have that same goal but I was going to ease into it in 9 weeks with the Couch to the 5K running program. But first I want to lose some poundage because I feel it's hard on my joints to start a running program at this weight.

Today we got our Mexican food in and then we discussed how stuffed we were and how much we needed to lose weight and how we're going to seriously crack down on this McDougall diet. The maximum weight loss version states you can lose up to 15lbs in one month if you are strict to the diet and so we both agreed for 30 days to stick to it and try it out.

Today I'm taking a break from cardio and the gym. Last night I couldn't sleep because my muscles were so sore from working out. It was miserable. My Cousin text msg me @ 4:30am saying she'd been up all night with the baby and couldn't sleep and wasn't going to make it so we're going to try again on Thursday. Thursday I also go to the gym with Erin and this time I'm doing upper body.
