I am here in the USA with a k1 visa, i arrived the 8th of December.

I'll get married the 20th of January.

I applied for the social security card already, it should be here in a few days.

What else can i do until getting married?

Will i have enough time to apply for AOS after getting married before my k1 visa expires?

Technically the visa is "VOIDED" at the POE it's clock ended then, and the I-94's clock starts then. You need to marry withing the 90 days of the I-94 card.

Another thing you can do while waiting for marriage is to get your foreign vaccination records transfered to a vaccination supplement "I-693A" by a US Civil surgeon. Call around, many will try to gouge you for a full medical, insist on just the supplement, it should cost no more than $40.

 I remember trying to get someone to do it that cheap was impossible im my area. There is a Civil Surgeon in TX, Dr. Arnold, I think you can search for his address somewhere here on VJ. People mail their vaccinations and he mails back the completed I-693 for like $10 I belive.

I called to about 100+ places in my city and the cheapest I got was $50, and I had to put up a fight that I did not need the full medical.

Apply for your work permit. I made the mistake of getting married and then applying for my AOS and work permit. So i was 5 months with no job and still waiting. Whatever you do dont leave the country i have returned back to Scotland as my mother is very ill and i cant get back to my home and my wife.

And get your CA driving lisence. All you need to do is sit a theory test costs $28 ish. Thats if you have a current driving license from your country

i think if you apply for a work permit before you get married it will just be valid for the period the I-94 is valid and you wont get it in time anyways because uscis is ###### slow.......

get your drivers license, go to the dmv webpage of your state and find out what you have to do to get your license.

the adress of the civil surgeon in texas can be found in the pinned thread in the aos section, i think it says something like FAQs for I-693a. she will transfere the vaccination sheet you got from the medical in italy to the I-693a which you need to submit with your aos.

get tax returns and corresponding w2's from the last 3 years for the affidavit of support (I864 i think)

Not a good idea for K-1, applying for work permit (EAD) before filing for AOS is a waste of $340, the EAD card is a temporary 90 day card based on entry date, and can take up to 90 days to get, typically, USCIS sends out a rejection notice because they approved it after the I-94 expires.

File for EAD with the AOS, AOS fee includes EAD (I-751) and AP (I-131)
