Republicans back bill allowing employers to require English only

People seem to be missing the point that the law already allows for the employer to require employees to speak English if it relates to their duties. If you think your beancounters need to speak English to write up reports, you can *already* put that in the requirements.

It is insane to think you can get the most from an employee by treating them like this. An open and friendly work enviroment will make people proud to work where they do, and this pride and accomplisment will get much more done than someone in an overbearing and oppressive workplace where they don't want to show up, and do their best to appear to be working hard to keep you happy.

As the owner of the company-I would want to know why they were not where they were supposed to be when they were supposed to be there-my perogative-I feel as the paycheck payer.

-IF they spoke English....and GUESS what they are talking about in my job.......??!!Uhmmmm...no, not likely. No room for guessing.

If I wanted to work in Russia I needed to speak Russian. I see nothing wrong with requiring English for work in this country. Frankly, I'm sick of all the bilingual signs everywhere. When I lived in Russia I had to read all the signs in Russian and I accepted that.

have you ever been to italy, germany, france and the numerous other countries that have EVERYTHING written in english? every single airport that i have been to has had signs in english

pshh, what a double standard we have

i dont understand why people here are so bothered by having things written in english as well as another language...how does that truly affect your life? is it harming you in some terrible way? i think that people just need to get over it

what's the international travel language again? what's the language used by atc's?

Discipline is important.

Depends where you work. Its not too much to expect that people have it in them to discipline themselves.

All I know is I prefer some level of trust from my bosses in my ability to do my job, without having an ogre standing over me with a whip.
