Hello,

What will happen after an H1B Visa expires? This is for a friend of mine who is currently holding one. Is there a way she switch to other type of visa so she can stay here in US? What the best option?

Thank you!

After the visa expires your friend has to leave. If she's eligible for another visa, she may be able to do an AOS, but it's unlikely. Which visa does she want? She can't just stay because she wants to.

Find a US spouse, plenty of time to do so.

This should not be mentioned as an option and encouragement to walk around looking for one.

Beside that some people like to achieve visa things on their own.

Without more information cant really say much to any options. H1Bs can be extended, friend can try to find another employer, study etc..

The H1B can be extended up to 6 six years.

She should ask her employer to get apply for a green card for her. If they won't do that for her, she could try to move to a job that would sponsor a green card for her.

If she is far from the 6 year limit, depending on what she does, she could try to get a masters degree or something that would improve her green card chances. She could do the masters while working. But companies hire lawyers for green card applications and they know how to write the applications to define the work people do.
