Yesterday was supposed to be my last day of medical exam at St Luke's but unfortunarely, I was told to come back for 3day sputum test and wait 2mos for result.

I had a small lung scar (from my childhood but had been already cured a long time ago) that they saw on my xray result which they said was suspicious for TB.

Please help me what to do, my fiance and I were planning to get married by August but this came up ?

Country-specific thread moved from K-1 Process forum to the Philippines regional forum.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Ok. Please only make one post and not have two posts with exactly the same topic and information on it. They are trying to determine if you have or had TB or not. So they will do some more tests, and if they determine that you have TB then you will have to go on medications and be seen back at date and time in the future before you are cleared for an interview. If they determine that you do not have TB then everything is fine and you go to interview.

Here is some additional information.

They will do a Sputum test, both rapid and culture. Rapid/initial is positive, you start treatment. If rapid is negative, you wait 2 months for the culture result. Meaning that they take the sputum collection and grow it in a medium that favors the growth of TB bacteria if present. It can take up to 6-8 weeks for TB to grow/appear. That's why if it show up at any time, you start treatment. If not, that's where you see people getting approved for immunizations after the cultures come back negative.

If any of the sputum collections show positive, then it's 6 months of DOTS (Directly Observed Treatment, Short-Course

Two months for the SPUTUM, if all is clear puts you into July, if there is an interview date available without a long wait you could make it to the States by early August (very likely)

Don't forget to complete CFO while you are waiting. ;)

But I don't have active TB. Should I really wait for 2 months? Can't I present to st lukes another xray and medical certificate from another hospital to prove I don't have tb, instead of waiting for 2 mos??

You have to complete the 60 day SPUTUM, it is not an option if you want a visa.

You can present other x-rays and medical information to St. Luke's but it won't change anything. SLEC is required to complete the SPUTUM testing.... that will determine if you have active TB.

You just have to do the time. Just the way it is.

No, they will not accept that at all. I know this for a fact because one of my asawa's friends got hit the very same way you have been there, she thought that she would be smart and have a second a opinion done on her by another doctor. Well in the end it did not work because St. Luke's still made her follow the policy that they have.

I am sorry you having to go through this. I hope you have a good day.
