I have a question about filling out the 864. On the "individual annual income" I don't know what ot put. I am a substitute part-time. I make 95/day but I don't make a specific ammount annually because of summer and Christmas holidays... so what do I put? And estimated amount?

Do you get pay 95 per day regardless of how many hours? Or does your pay per hour =95 per Day? How many days in the week do you work? How much do you make in a week or month? How many weeks or months in a year do you work?

All of this can help to determine current income

You could use the formula 95x average days work in a week x average number of weeks work in year

or pay per hour x average hour work in week x 52 weeks in A year

You could also get an employment income vertification letter from your employer

Unfortunately, for a substitute teacher, an employer letter would not state a current income any better than no letter, as the employer doesn't know how often they will employ the substitute. The above formula is a valid one but, what I would recommend instead is to take your most recent pay stub's total year to date gross income, divided by the number of weeks school has already been in session for this calendar year, then multiply by the total number of weeks school WILL be in session for the year, and call that your current annual income. If it's enough, great. If not, you'll need a joint sponsor.

For example, if you've earned $17,000 for the year so far and school has been in session 32 weeks and will be in session a total of 40 weeks for the year, 17,000/32 = 531.25 X 40 = 21,250, which will do fine for a household of 2. If you've made much less than that, it won't be enough.

If your employment STARTED after the first of this year, then divide by the number of weeks school has been in session since you started, and then multiply by the total number of weeks school will be in session for the year, from the date you started. You could also substitute days for weeks getting essentially the same result.

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...
