that's what i am wondering about - who instigated this incident?

At this point no one knows,except him and the other person involved. It could go either way.

How to live a regular life when he was involved in such a high profile case with people baying for his blood?

Not trying to be coy(ok, yes I am) but here are some suggestions:

Stop hitting women

Don't try to sponsor a fight between you and some random person for money

Don't give out interviews blaming President Obama for your misfortune

Don't go to gun shows and sign autographs like you're a celebrity.

Stay away from law enforcement.

Just saying...

As far as I can tell from reports -- he and the shooter had been involved in another road rage incident with each other last year. So they are very much aware of each other.

The thing most people tend to overlook is, Zimmerman has had issues with the law way before he ran into Trayvon Martin. So, in reality, what you're seeing is his decisions are played out in the public court of opinion due to his run in with Martin. It didn't change him, he just can't use the cover of anonymity anymore...

If I'm not mistaken, he's had 4 cases that deal with domestic violence against women. 1 before TM, and 3 afterwards.
