Where did you file for citiZenship?

Nebraska or based on your state?

My Journey:

We met through a study-abroad program in Shanghai, China in August of 2009

We got engaged March of 2010

I received my K1 VISA in 6 months (June-December 2010)

We were married 04/02/2011
I received my conditional 2-year greencard (AOS) in 2.5 months with no interview (April-June 2011)

Our son was born 02/03/2013

I received my masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology 04/17/2013

I received my 10-year greencard (ROC) in 3 months with no interview (March-June 2013)

My husband returned from deployment 06/20/2013

My naturalization journey took 4 months (April-August 2014)

I became a US citizen on 08/01/2014

Received passport in 3 weeks (regular processing)

Thank you, VJ! smile.png

Where ever it says to file in the instructions. Being a Guard/Reserve has no affect unless they are on extended active duty orders.

Well it says all current members of armed forces or spouses file in Nebraska.. So since he is a current guardsman we send it to Nebraska right?

Unless he is active duty and deployed you follow the rules for regular N-400. I checked when my husband was still in NG and was told regular processing. Only took me around 3-4 months total.

ROC 2009
Naturalization 2010

Okay just in case anyone was wondering, it will still be sent to Nebraska as all military spouses file through there :)

Look at that! I came on to find more info, because being NG, I too, was slightly confused!

I'm also in PA! We are also NG!

I'm still planning on it being Nebraska.

He's currently in AIT. Isn't that considering "active" duty? I mean, being in GA, though... isn't "deployed"... right?

and filing out the N-400.... do I check that I am applying on the basis of qualifying Military service?

Why do our men have to make this so difficult! ;)

03/13/2011: Got married! <3
06/06/2011: Mailed packet included I-130, I-485, and I-765.
09/16/2011: Green Card Received!

-----------

07/27/2013: I-751 packet sent.

11/19/2013: Approved! Card Production.

------------

2/2015: Naturalization

I don't know if IADT counts. That would be a good question to ask the USCIS directly and post the answer here.

I would still send to Nebraska because you are a military spouse nonetheless.. However, include the filing fee etc. We don't qualify for free naturalization. I would just check either based on 3 year marriage or 5 year permanent resident, whichever applies to you.. Best of luck to you :)
