yeah he might be,,but if its on the embassies list,,i wanted her to have it,,,better to be safe than sorry

Yep, that's why I'm having her fill one out too. If they are not asking for it, they should take it off their instructions letter.

So he's brought one over every 9 years? Tell me Niblet, has the K-1 visa process changed a lot over the years? Is that why you're still asking questions on here?

I was reviewing my fiancees paperworks when I saw she didnt have a DS-230,,I asked the outfit that filled out the forms for me why he didnt fill one out?

he said they USEM had not even been asking for it,,,I said I wanted her to have one any way just in case!

The DS-230 Part 1 is listed in the embassy instructions letter and has been for a few months now, and yes it's true the CO has not been asking for it all the time, but there have been a few reports of COs asking for the DS-230 part 1 lately. I figured they were delaying asking for it all the time as some applicants processing through were still using the old instructions letter that was mailed out (not all use VJ and know the instructions letter is online). I agree, play it safe and have all the required forms that are listed.

it might be. best to find the original DoS Notice about it. So far, the OP hasn't supplied the URL, so all bets are off...

----

In your particular instance - NVC will tell you (via email) if they want you to change the form, mid-stream.

USEM doesn't ask for the DS-260 (no matter what you read on some other website). The embassy instructions letter does list the DS-230 part 1 but the COs at the embassy have yet to start asking for it all the time. Only have read of a few that actually turned one in.

I think being the DS-230 is a recent add and there may still be people in the process that are using the old embassy instructions letter so the embassy is delaying asking for it. One day that will change.

Of course one day they will switch to the DS-260 too... maybe ;)
